A large aircraft museum in the restored buildings of the Royal Bayerisches Airforce, full of civilian and military aircraft. Good explanations in German but also in English. The Schleissheim airport where the museum is located is still in use. A visit is really worthwhile

The museum is very clean, organized and comfortable. Great program for a whole day, less than this will not be enough to contemplate the history of this airport, before and after WWII. The planes are in very good shape!

The museum is quiet and well laid out with an amazing range of aircraft from the past years of German aviation. There is also a restoration hall where you can view the work in progress. The museum is about 10-15 minutes walk from Obersclheßheim S Bahn stop, a walk that takes you through the grounds of Obersclheßheim palace.

As enthusiasts we visited this museum whilst passing as it had always looked worthy of a visit. This was certainly the case. The layout and mix of history with actual aircraft was fascinating, and the quality of the exhibits, the layout, and the buildings was first class. The restoration hall was also good - just a shame one could not... More

A great museum about 10 min drive from Munich, on an old German Luftwaffe base. We loved it, great exhibits and planes and very hands on. Many planes we would never see at a Museum in the US. Be sure to see the whole museum including the repair hangar and the big hangar we almost missed since it was in... More

I'm not overly interested in planes but hubby wanted to check them out and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle so this was a definite win. It was really easy to get to and was really quiet throughout our visit. A really nice change from the madness of Marienplatz. I think it was around 6 euros... More

I got to know about this place whilst I was checking out the Deutsches Museum. If you happen to go to the Deutsches Museum, they usually give a free entrance ticket (when you pay the entrance ticket to the Deutsches Museum) to any other musueum that forms part of the Deutsches Museum and this Flugwerft Schleissheim is one of them... leave your hotel at least 3 hours before to be able to get S1 to arrive @ the airport on time. Due to the fact that it is not very clear to know ahead which terminal you should go to.

whilst this is not the largest aviation museum in the world it does have some interesting curios, I didn't know before my visit that the Germans also had a stab at making a Vertical take of fighter as well as a VSTOL cargo plane examples of both are housed here. they have an interesting selection of early German aircraft and...
