The Starnberger See is a lovely lake! Excursion boats let you experience the beauty of the lake and its surroundings. Just don't try to walk along the lake shore: it is almost completely inaccessible and the foot path along the busy road is dangerously inadequate.

`this lake is stunning. We went to Starnberg with the S-Bahn and walked into the village for breakfast, then walked a bit along the promenade. We were only put off by the rain, but instead of returning to Munich we went three stops along the line to Tutzing. It was a typically German village, a very pleasant change from Munich... More

I stayed in pathetic Possenhofen Jugendherberge which was located two minutes by foot away from the Starnberger See, and I visited Starnberger See every day for an hour. The waters are glistening and clear and the views of the land and mountains opposite are formidable. It is also great to visit at night with your loved one as it is... More

I went here from Munich central and it took me 30 minutes via Sbahn to get here. It's a beautiful place to visit for a day to chill. Don't forget to bring some food to feed the ducks and the birds.

We stopped here when we were staying in the Munich area. It was really beautiful and the kids loved paddling in the water (which was cold but not to bad) Only downside were the mosquitos. They were everywhere and quite pesky. I received about 10 bites and we had to leave early. If I had known we may have worn... More

Thought I ought to visit here as the weather was lovely and the lake seemed like the best place to go. We went here for the evening, so it was relatively quiet. There was not an awful lot of lake side spots near the station, and we walked quite a way round the outside. Perhaps this is because we decided... More

Get the S-Bahn 6 to Starnberg and pick up the ferry the grand tour of the lake lasts 3-3.5 hrs and I thought it was great value at just over 17 euros. I think you can get off at any of the stops and pick up a later ferry but it's best to check because I chose to stay on... More

What a beautiful lake! There is an island you can visit with a little ferry and big tourists boats which go over the lake. In good weather you have the alps in the background. Love it!
