Positive: Nice tourist town, like in Cape Cod A lot of restaurants and hotels Negative: None of the hotels are lakefront, and its hard to find a swimming spot Recommendation: Nice town, beatifull lake, but not swimming lake. Good for older people to take a boat excursion.

Idyllic location on the Starberger See lake and the view of the German Alps in the distance, this is a ideal place for a day out from Munich. Only 30 mins by S6 from Munich Pasing station, the place provides a quick getaway. Ample food to eat, things to buy and water sports at your disposal, the place is just... More

We took a boat tour of half of the lake. The weather was glorious, and we had a good view of the Bavarian Alps. The scene would be familiar to people who have boated on Lake Okanagan in British Columbia or Lac d'Annecy in the French Alps. It's a pleasant way to spend an hour or so, but the subsequent... More

Very nice lake with good conditions in summer to swimm and dive. You can also walk around the lake and have a wonderful sight to the mountains (Alpes).

The 3 hour boat tour around the lake was wonderful and to be able to get off and see the small towns was great and a fun way to spend the day. We wish that earphones were made available b/c the tour was only in German and did not know that. It would have been nice to know what was... More

We took the train out from Munich. Not a bad trip and arriving in Starnberg is more than worth it. The train drops you off, literally, at the edge of the lake. Make sure it's a nice day because the views of the snow capped mountains are not to be missed.

This bucolic vista is one to not be missed;) All of our children love the fun in the lake and, if it is raining, the pool if spectacular.

We really loved the place!! We ate lunch at the lake and wanted to rent a motor boot but all were rented out and we decided to go for a walk. We took lots of pictures and we enjoyed walking through the forest and admired the tall treas. I was a beautiful day and in the distance you could see... More

Spend an enjoyable day out here in early Spring. A great meal at the Marina Seerestaurant (where the Sunday buffet was very popular) and an easy walk to visit the German expressionist museum (Buchheim Museum). The trip by train was quick and comfortable.

Starnbergsee is a huge lake in outer ring of Munich's S-Bahn. Travelling time from Munich is around 1hr 30 mins, hence can start comfortably in the morning. The Lake is the main attraction with surrounding natural scenery which is captivating. When the skies are clear you can experience tranquility just relaxing on the lake side. Boating (two options - one... More
