A bit south of Münsing, if you go down on the southeastern side of the lake, you can stop at various campgrounds where there are lots of wide grass lawns, forests, walking and biking paths, little beaches and a few little restaurants. It's all very natural and on a warm October Sunday, we were amazed to find lots of families... More

Worth for a visit in the evenings on a good weather. Very beautiful views with the lake and mountains, with swans, yachts, boats etc. You can enjoy a drink in the restaurant with the beautiful views. Also the shops nearby sells souvenirs at a reasonable price.

On weekends it is full of small sail boats and when the sun is shining you can see the snow covered mountains of the alps. in the villages around the lake you find best wellness facilities and very good restaurants. Just an hour's drive from the city, this lake district is beautiful with lovely cafes and pubs along its banks. Great place for a stroll and a drink or two.

Made our own way there on the public transport. Worth going on a boat trip as it was very relaxing. Nice little place to wander around with lots of nice cafes and shops. Good to get away from the hustle and bustle for the day.

An easy trip on the S Bahn from Munich - and a chance to see the surrounding countryside. A trip on the Lake is good value - with plenty to see.

The seafood platter starter was amazing. Good beer and wine options. Very traditional German entrees, with some nice Italian options. Atmosphere is traditional German beerhaus, with nice view in the English Garden. Good quality food, nice service.

The Starnberger See is a lovely lake! Excursion boats let you experience the beauty of the lake and its surroundings. Just don't try to walk along the lake shore: it is almost completely inaccessible and the foot path along the busy road is dangerously inadequate.
