not to be missed - the Treasury is amazing as is the rest of the museum. If you are limited on time, see the treasury, the audioguide is very good and the variety of artifacts is outstanding. The residence tour is quite long - even the "short" version is long but well worth it.

We chose not to get the audio guide, and found that was a bad idea. I tend to like to read about items in a museum, but there was very limited signage. Get the audio guide (it's free) to fully enjoy the Residence.

The Munich Residence is truly gorgeous inside, with beautiful ceilings and stunning architecture. The audio tour is one of the best I have done, costs no extra and is really clear and easy to use - you can listen to as much or as little as you like before moving on to the next room - it really does add... So full of treasures, fabulous architecture - and the Cuvillies Theatre in the centre is the best thing in Munich, maybe in Bavaria.

The Residenz was beautiful. Lots of gilding and fancy plaster-work. The grotto was particularly interesting. The courtyard is very impressive, but much of it was under repair and covered with trompe l'oeil painted boards that replicated what the original structure looked like. The theater is not to be missed--beautiful!

While you will see many leaflets for classical performances each Thursday and Saturday at the Residenz you should try to call to the front entrance (facing Hofgarden) to check out the range of posters advertising many other performances designed for the local rather than tourist market. We were lucky enough to see a performance of Wagner and Bruckner by the... More

Munich Residence was a beautiful place, however our trip was ruined by very rude staff. The first person was the man 'guarding' the entrance. We walked over and he rudely told us to put our bags in the cloakroom. We walked over to where there were some bags and were about to leave them here, when he shouted that he... More

I've been to many museums and galleries, this one is definitely one of my favorites . I even prefer this over versailles palace in France, although louvres is still number one on my list, I'll definitely grant my number two to this little known museum. It's reasonably priced( I always believe museums and galleries should be affordable) and you do... More

Definitely worth going to. Very reasonable price, with lots to see. Give at least two hours to your visit, but it could take a full day if you really look at everything properly. Friendly staff willing to give you some history too if you ask!
