I didn't intend to hike to Andechs. This was day 3 of Munich and my legs were already sore. My brother and I went into the Tourist info office outside the train station and asked how to get there... before we could say "by bus or taxi", she said "you will walk, yes? it is a beautiful day and you... more

It is a 45 min trip by S bahn No 5 to Herrscing ( the end of the line ) and then directly outside the railway station a bus awaits you to take you on the 10 minute journey to the monastery. Although this is a religious site, most people come here for the alcohol. I never saw a monk... more
