They are in the process of some renovations to some areas, like the elephant house, to improve some of the older enclosures at the 100 year old facility. But the ones that had been updated were outstanding. They're doing a good job. You feel as if you're walking through a forest, some don't feel like enclosures at all.

Love this place. Of course a lot depends on the weather being good but still a good choice to enjoy a good walk and loads of fun to be found for the kids, with more than one play area available. The maintenance of the zoo is excellent and there is a good choice of places to eat, should you choose... More

We went on a public holiday and it was ridiculously busy. I also don't understand why the zoo allows people to bring their dogs - they were everywhere! On the plus side - most of the enclosures were good. We enjoyed watching the tiger have to work out how to get to his food. The rhino was cool. The elephants... More

My partner and I really enjoy visiting a zoo on our travels, and have been to numerous over the last few years. Our favourite has always been Artis in Amsterdam - until now! Tierpark Hellabrunn is easily the best zoo I have ever been to! It is set in a beautiful park, with many streams and rivers flowing through and... More

The zoo is set in lovely surroundings over a large area. There are lots of cafes, bars and beer gardens plus lots of play areas for the children. You can hire kinder wagons which are small carts you can use to drag around children and bags. The monkeys were perhaps the best attraction although one of the orangutangs spent his... More

Superior to the majority I've visited in the UK. I was extremely impressed with the size of the enclosures, not just for "main attraction" animals like bears, but also the mountain goat and baboon enclosures were superb! Water was used in most enclosures to separate the animals from people, not enormous barbed wire fences which was more appealing. The zoo... More

... specially when they have new born animals :) Take a whole day! Children like very much the big adventure Playground, it is close to a Biergarten.

Fantastic zoo in beautiful surroundings. All animals are in stunning condition and there welfare seems first class. The enclosures use a lot of glass walls instead of bars giving a much "closer" experience. The size of the enclosures are also huge much more space given to each species than I have seen in other zoos. No bored depressed looking animals... More

Great range of animals. Loved the polar bears and baboons. Gd large enclousers. Very outdoorsy feeling. Great for adults and kids.
