If you like Kandinsky art and other artists of his time, you will be well rewarded at this museum. We also liked seeing the eclectic collection of the original owner. The restaurant is nice for lunch or a coffee and delicious dessert.

Very good art gallery, with some excellent paintings. However the man in attraction "The blue rider" wasn't on show. There is a stunning structure by a Danish artist in the entrance hall

I tried to visit it because it seems nice museum, but I arrived late less that an hour before closing and they asked me to pay full ticket to get in! Usually in some places like this for the last hour of the day they give you a half price ticket.

I had been especially looking forward to seeing the Blue Rider collection at the Lenbachhaus which had been recommended by a friend. But after paying the ten euro entry fee and climbing the stairs to the second floor I learned that half of the rooms housing the collection were closed, including the iconic blue horse painting by Franz Marc and... We started the day at the Old Pinakotech with a wonderful display of old masters then moved to the nearby New Pinakotech with some sensational impressionist art pieces not to be missed but the grand finale was the Blaue Reiter collection at the Lenbach House. More Kandinskys than you can poke a stick at. A must visit for any art... More

We had never visited this museum before and went directly to the upper floor where the Blaue Reiter works were located. We had read in the Wall Street Journal that, perhaps by design, the Blaue Reiter works were meant to be seen last, but the other works didn’t sound too interesting, so we began with them. The collection was excellent,... More

This is a wonderful place to get to know the paintings of the Blaue Reiter group, which i love. There is also a gallery downstairs of 19th c painting worth seeing, so pace yourself!

In three weeks of visits to German art museums, the beautifully renovated Lenbachhaus was one of my favorites. Justly famous for its collection of works by Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Gabriele Munter and other friends who made the Blaue Reiter (Blue Rider) school such a force in Expressionist art, it contains terrific pieces by them all. Photographic displays and an excellent... More

one has to go there, at least to see the Blaue Reiter and other great works of Franz Marc, Paul Klee etc. and to have a nice coffee or Snack in the bar.

We originally stopped here to see the Norman Foster addition, but stayed for lunch and a visit to the galleries. The Blue Rider art was particularly impressive and worth the price of admission.
