Imagine Central Park surrounded by Biergartens...ducks....paddleboats...and a beautiful, serene atmosphere. The English Gardens are a lovely diversion from the hum of city life. Spend a morning in the hum of Schwabing cafe life and escape to the park. Relax and enjoy the Seehaus and Chinese garden biergardens. A delightful day is ahead of you. more

We rented bikes from Mike's Bike Tours for a day. We spent the day riding around the park discovering all the fun areas it had to offer. We hit up all the beer gardens (Chinese tower being my favorite) and took some time to just relax in the grass. Yes ... there are some nudists ... but they are friendly!... more

The Englischer Garten is a perfect Munich attraction. It combines nature, history and Munich's hallmark libation, beer. The Munich visitor will find four beer gardens in or adjacent to the park. Also, the park is peppered with historical art pieces and buildings that are well worth seeing for their own sake. The Chinese Tower, the site of a beer garden... more

This garden is quite large and every inch was beautiful. I especially enjoyed watching the surfers...surfers in the middle of Munich...who knew?! It was funny to see people walking around carrying their surf boards in the middle of a garden... We rode through everything while on a bike tour. I probably could have ridden just through the garden for hours... more

The place was amazing. I visited during the World Cup and was able to watch matches, drink beer, and eat Bavarian food in an amazing park! Definitely a top spot to visit if you are visiting Munich. more

My only regret about the Englischer Garten was not spending more time there. I believe it is the largest municipal park in Europe. The activities are endless. There are miles of bike trails and walking trails. There were several soccer games being played. The highlight of my trip was being allowed to join a game. Great experience! It is true... more

I notice that none of the previous reviewers have mentioned that on a sunny day there will be several thousand well-behaved naked Germans of various genders soaking up the rays in the park. Worked for me when I was there, quickly stripped off and lay out for a while. more

We spent a long afternoon walking thru the park and visiting the beer garden near the Chinese pagoda (which held an oompah band playing nice music). I was amazed at how clean the park was and how many people were just hanging out under the trees and swimming and surfing in the river that runs through it. The beer garden... more

A park within the city! Can walk or bike ride for miles. Several beer gardens to stop and take a refreshment break at. Also the Isar river runs through the park. Take an hour or two to explore this area. Be sure to look for the surfers (yes, surfers!) at the south end of the park, practicing on the Isar. more
