We walked along River Isar on other side ( from Deutsche Museum) first and then crossed river via JFK bridge into Englischer Garten - so scenic and warrants a whole day's visit. The Garden is varied and includes a lake and also many streams suitable for bathing. Youngsters even enjoying rapids - Eisbach surfers! Enjoyed beers and oompah music at... More

If you want to beat the heat in Munich, the English Garden is where you want to be. The lazy river is great for cooling down and all the shade makes those hot days much more bearable.

Absolutely beautiful! Huge.... If you've been seeing sites and learning history, and you feel your brain needs to relax and just enjoy: perfect location! Gorgeous, restful, immense. Beer garden - fun. Oh and there is a beautiful charming water rapids to jump in and cool off and have fun! Don't miss the surfers! (Yes surfers!)

We spent a fun afternoon strolling through the park and stopped at the beer garden where a brass band was playing in the gazebo. The beer and food was good and hit the spot

Went here on a lovely hot day. Sat beside the lake with hundreds of other people. Watched people swimming down the lake. Very relaxing. Was with my 10 year old daughter and saw about 7 totally naked men wandering around the park. Not a normal occurrence in the UK so we were both a bit surprised!

The setting is very peaceful, from the large expanses of neat lawn, to the meandering pathways and the brook that runs through the park. This garden is amazing.. It's huge, the walking paths are vast and it's a pleasure to walk or cycle through, both day and night. It's a full credit to Munich to have such vast, pristine open public space within the centre of the city.
