Well worth the visit

One of our favorite places to visit in Munich. While the palace is worth seeing our favorite is the carriage and porcelin museum. Definitely a somewhat unique experience.

Nymphenburg Palace has an exhibit of carriages used hundreds of years ago that would amaze even the most jaded visitor. Wonderful grounds and buildings to explore.

Pros: Beautiful and sprawling gardens, ornate palace, not crowded Cons: A little pricey to add all of the extra buildings, but still worth it overall, lack of descriptions for exhibits (must buy audioguide) I recommend going if you are in Munich because it really is a beautiful place. I actually enjoyed much more than Versailles.

Most of the outbuildings, including the cafe, were closed at the time of our visit in December. However, even the limited rooms open were totally stunning, well worth visiting for the magnificent decor and art on show.

Well worth the trip away from the city center nd not that complicated by public transportation. A lovely palace and gardens. Bring comfortable walking shoes. And definitely visit the coach museum.

Interesting visit. The main palace and grounds, along with coach museum were worthwhile. Recommended by hotel concierge for a quick visit before heading to the airport to catch a flight.

This place is magical. For those who have seen the English Garden and aim to have a more historical and cultural experience while walking through a park I would recommend this place. In fact I only live 5 minutes away from it and go running here so I know the corners pretty well. You can easily spend an entire afternoon... More

From the outside, the schloss is HUGE, although in my opinion it lacks the fairytale appearance of other Bavarian castles. Step inside, though, and you will not have seen anything like the vibrant ceiling paintings and enormous chandeliers. Each room has its own colour scheme with amazing wallpapers and of course amazing paintings. As much as the house astounded me,... More

We visited both the Residence and the Nymphenburg Palace during our time in Munich. The Residence looked less impressive from the outside, but you get to see much more of the ornate interior and there's much better guide information provided (even a free audio guide). The Nymphenburg is absolutely gorgeous and sprawling from the outside, but feels like there is... More
