Owner description: A tour with Curt Milburn is like having a welcoming family friend show you around Munich. Curt's been called "The Wikipedia of History". He specializes in small group and private tours. Tours are tailor-made and Curt finds out what YOU want to see. His City Tours go beyond canned, set routes. You'll see the famous sites, architecture, learn about kings, Hitler, foods and beer. Our Third Reich Tours delve deep into more than when, but why and how the Nazis came to power and you'll see the bombed buildings of Hitler. Curt's Dachau tours are sensitive and remarkably moving and his Neuschwanstein and Castle tours are great fun. Salzburg & Nuremberg are within your reach with Big Hat Tours! Every tour is accompanied by an Apple i-Pod with hundreds of photos to put you into history.

My wife and I have just returned from a short break in Munich. We decided to book a couple of tours, after reading reviews on Big Hat Tours. We were not disappointed. Curt was perfect. Extremely knowledgable, very personable, and friendly. We honestly couldn't have asked for more. From a tailored tour, to a lengthy walk, he was willing to... More

We spent a half day w. Curt visiting Dachau with our 2 teenage daughters this past July. It was a very moving experience to say the least. As an educator I appreciated his level of knowledge, but more importantly, I valued how he expressed that knowledge in a cohesive and comprehensive story. He made history come alive and our kids... My wife and I had the good fortunate of booking a last minute tour with Curt. We were not planning on taking a tour of Munich as we had a very limited time in Munich and my wife was getting a little tired of guided history tours as we had done them for the last 4 days in Prague. However... More

My husband and I took 4 tours with Curt Millburn - Third Reich walking tour, Dachau, Salzburg, and Neuschwanstein castle/Hohenschwangau castle. Being somebody who is passionate about history and eager to share what he knows, Curt makes an excellent guide. He is flexible (never forgot to ask what we wanted to see), funny, engaging, and helpful. From him, not only... More

My husband and I had the pleasure of touring with Curt Milburn for 5 tours over the last 4 days. We visited churches to castles, spent a day learning about the 3rd Reich and Dachau, and went to Salzburg to learn about Mozart, The Sound of Music and the historical wealth of the city from salt mining. Curt's enthusiasm and... More

My wife and I had a full day, 2 castle, private tour booked with Curt. We met him at the train station as planned, and when we arrived at the train platform with Curt they advised us that all trains to the castle area had been cancelled that day due to a strike. So Curt adjusted our day "on the... More

We had been to Munich previously, but after our tour with Curt we realized that we didn't learn anything about the area the first time. His explanation of the local foods and the market were as interesting as his Third Reich information. Would strongly recommend spending a day with Curt. It will definitely enhance your stay.

My wife and I learned years ago when going to someplace new, before you do anything else, take a tour. Tours can give you immediate insights as to those things you REALLY want to spend your limited time focusing on. Coming to Munich for the first time was no different. Through luck...and of course Traveladvisor advice...we contacted Curt Milburn of... More

Recently went on a Big Hat Tour of Munich. We had four adults, some not so thrilled to be on another tour. But, Curt's knowledge and humor made for a great time. Definitely one of our better days in Europe. He had a chance to sell us another tour of the Neuschwanstein Castles, but was gracious enough to pass on... More

From the moment we met Curt and started the city tour, we were captivated. His enthusiasm is infectious and wealth of knowledge astounding. Taking time to ask what my girlfriend and I wanted from the tour, it was tailored specifically to our interests - a whirlwind tour of local history, focussing on the Third Reich. Curt's company was a joy... More
