Curt’s been called “The Wikipedia of History” and he specialize in small group and private tours. Every tour is tailor-made and Curt finds out what YOU want to see. His City Tours go beyond canned, set routes. You’ll see the famous sites, architecture, learn about kings, Hitler, foods and beer. Our Third Reich Tours delve deep into more than when, but why and how the Nazis came to power and Curt leads you to the bombed buildings of Hitler. Curt’s Dachau tours are sensitive and remarkably moving and his Neuschwanstein and Castle tours are great fun. Salzburg is within your reach with Big Hat Tours! Every tour is accompanied by an Apple i-Pod 3 with hundreds of photos to put you into history. Curt goes beyond any tour guide in Munich giving you tips on dining, shopping, attractions and where to stay. You can escape the over-crowed, boring and scripted tours with Curt Milburn and Big Hat Tours. « less

Curt did a wonderful job with coordinating our trip from Munich to Dachau. He managed to corral our group seamlessly by train and bus to the site. But after being at the site for a few hours I could not imagine being there without Curt's knowledge and empathy to the memorial. He was one of the best tours guides we... More

Curt or the Man under the Big Hat is a knowledge fountain. A city tour was the perfect way to start off the 4 days in Munich. A 3 hour history and orienteering trip made the walk around town more insightful and enjoyable. We did the full day tour the next day to the Castles and Kirk's knowledge not only... More

We were only able to spend one day to tour through Germany and came across the ratings for big had tours on trip advisor. What a tremendous tour guide Curt is. Curt has a tremendous knowledge of the area and the history. We took the castle tour and realized that if we didn't have Curt in tow, we would never... More

From the moment we met Curt at the train station it was a personal experience. He interacted with each of our group of 10 to make each of us feel special. The walking tour was amazing with all the facts about the war and Hitler. Lunch at the Hofbrau Hausa was enlightening with Curt as he kept us entertained throughout... More

Our Big Hat Tour of Munich with Curt was a great way to kick off our trip to Germany. He provided an excellent overview of the history and culture of the area, targeting/personalizing his comments and the tour itself towards topics we were most interested in. We loved walking around the town with him, tasting traditional foods at the marketplace,... More

4 of us booked 2 days of private tours with Curt - based on TA reviews. Both days with Curt were highlights of our European adventure! Day 1 we journeyed to Salzburg, Austria---Curt's vast knowledge of the city, history & "short-cuts" to accomplish everything we wanted to see & do in just ONE day proved to be invaluable. So many... Curt did an outstanding job touring us through the city center of Munich. He was very personable and easy to talk with. He used an IPad to show us pictures from the past which was very helpful. He was very accommodating to our group on what we wanted to see. We were able to enjoy a lunch at the Hofbrau... More

I just returned yesterday from a 4 week tour of Europe. Curt Milburn's BIG HAT TOURS was by far, the best tour of all the cities we visited. We were a group of ten that wanted a personal walking tour of Munich that was designed for us. Curt went all out in bringing us a Munich and Oktoberfest experience that... More

Curtis at Big Hat Tours was wonderful when we visited Munich in September. He made everything about the day trip easy for us. His knowledge of Dachau was excellent and we came away with a much better understanding of the events leading up to and during this terrible time in our history. Had we visited on our own we would... We started our Germany trip in Munich and had a great first morning touring the city center with Curt. He did a great job combining site-seeing/sampling (e.g. food market, Hofbrau Haus) with history (Bavarian and WWII). He used an iPad to show pictures of the sites as they were in the past.He has a great sense of humor and was... More
