Curt’s been called “The Wikipedia of History” and he specialize in small group and private tours. Every tour is tailor-made and Curt finds out what YOU want to see. His City Tours go beyond canned, set routes. You’ll see the famous sites, architecture, learn about kings, Hitler, foods and beer. Our Third Reich Tours delve deep into more than when, but why and how the Nazis came to power and Curt leads you to the bombed buildings of Hitler. Curt’s Dachau tours are sensitive and remarkably moving and his Neuschwanstein and Castle tours are great fun. Salzburg is within your reach with Big Hat Tours! Every tour is accompanied by an Apple i-Pod 3 with hundreds of photos to put you into history. Curt goes beyond any tour guide in Munich giving you tips on dining, shopping, attractions and where to stay. You can escape the over-crowed, boring and scripted tours with Curt Milburn and Big Hat Tours. « less

My family and I toured Herrenchiemsee Castle with Curt in late Jun 2014. It was my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and Munich was one of the places we visited. It had a special significance for my dad because he'd studied in Munich. He especially wanted to see Herrencheemsie castle and the lake that surrounds it. My parents are elderly and... More

We took a small group city tour of Munich, a private tour of Dachau and a private castle tour all with Curt. His knowledge of history and local tourism will knock your socks off. I've never met a guide who has so much to tell as much as he does. He also has great photos to go along with his... More

We are a family of six, and our tour with Curt was great! Despite the rain that fell all day (August, who would have thought cold and raining) Not Curt's fault for sure, despite the rain Curt made the day fun and interesting. He was great with the kids. We would had real trouble dealing with the crowds at Neuschwantsein... More

My wife, son and I joined Curt on a walk through Munich on our first morning in town. It was the best thing we could have done. Curt is very engaging and a lot of fun. His description of the Glockenspiel was hilarious. He introduced to all the spots we wanted to see with wonderful commentary along the way. You... More

We traveled to Munich with our niece after her high school graduation and arranged for Curt to take the 3 of us to visit both of Mad King Ludwig's castles. Curt is an expert on the logistics and trying to visit both castles in one day is an art - I'm pretty sure that we wouldn't have been able to... More

Curt led me, along with my 2 sons (ages 16 and 21) on tours of Neuschwantstein and the Dachau concentration camp. Both were excellent. Most impressive was the amount of time he spent with us on the train / in the camp visitor's center before the tours, providing background information and rich historical perspective. This perspective was incredibly valuable during... More

My wife and I did two different castle tours with Curt from Big Hat - Neuschwanstein and Herrenchiemsee. Curt was a great guide - prompt, responsive and very well prepared. He knew a lot of small details that made the trip more pleasant, such as best places to sit on the train for optimal views, best times to arrive, best... More

...and take it early in your visit, because Curtis will leave you with so many ideas and places to see that are must-dos. His tour is personalized to your interest, educational, and highly enjoyable. (Yes, educational AND enjoyable!) His trusty ipad is a wonderful complement to his incredible knowledge. We've taken personal tours in England and France: this one was... More
