I was stationed a few hours from Munich from 1972-74 in a city named Amberg. It's about 60 kilometers from Nuremberg . I had a girlfriend in Munich and would go there as much as possible. I remember there was a park on Leopold Strasser and on a corner, there was a McDonald's and if you went downstairs, there was... More

Good place to learn a little bit about history. We had a short sightseeing tour via bus. It's kinda hard to walk around cause everything's a bit far from each other, so the bus was a good way to skim through the attractions and get a bit of history if you have a guide. It's a nice thing to see... More

As a nightlife district it is seriously tame. A lot of bars lacking any atmosphere. One diamond in the rough is Mexican restaurant with great food and friendly staff. Unfortunately, I can't remember the restaurants name. Leopold Strasse as a whole terrible.

Leopoldstraße is a nice place, with interesting bars, cafes, shops etc. (and lots of traffic.) It has a nice atmosphere and can be interesting if there is a special event, but otherwise don't bother going there just to see the street.

I live in Munich. If you walk from the Feldherrnhalle to the Siegestor, its exacly 1km. It gets more and more boring as you walk towards the Siegestor-Arch. This is where the Leopoldstrasse beginns. Do not walk on. There is not more to see than what you see at this point of the Siegestor. (I would not even have walked... More

Street cafes abound, but traffic is chronic. Best avoided unless you're into seeing and being seen.
