Worth a look only IF you have extra time in Munich. Again I am comparing this to the MET and MoMa so I have a benchmark when I visited the musuem. For the price, I thought more is expected but the overall impression is sort of underwhelming. The collection is sparse and mediocre. Siting for an hour at the lobby... More

The "not so old" Pinacotheque presents a very large collection. The Dürer self portrait is fascinating and the collection of Italian old masters nonetheless. Go there on a Sunday (1Euro) and have breakfast in the Victorian cafe.

This museum has some great pieces. Even if you don't know much about art from this period the museum has large open spaces to enjoy some very unique and enjoyable paintings. I do suggest that if you have a lackluster view of art museums that you experience the Neue Pinakothek. It will have more varied subjects of art as the... More

For me the earlier paintings are the real stars. The Durer self portrait is here and with so few people about it was a joy to be able to see it close up. Other highlights include a Giotto Last Supper, a da Vinci Virgin and Child and a Raphael Madonna della Tenda. Amongst the later works the van Dyck portraits... More

Anyone interested in art should check this out, it is located around a few other art museums, so there will be plenty of chances for you to increase your art knowledge. The layout is also pleasing to the eyes, you can have all the time you want to stroll through the complex. Tip: Go on a Sunday, only 1 Euro!... More

We saw an excellently-curated special exhibit on Brueghel, and we enjoyed the rest of the permanent collection. The museum was quiet and well laid out; it's a rare treat to be able to stand so close to so many masterpieces. The cafe is very pleasant, too.

The collection of paintings were astounding. Each exhibit seemed more breath-taking than the previous one. However, entry was a headache and one had to pay 2 euros for a locker to store umbrellas (rainy day) and no bag could be taken inside. Also, as there was a special exhibition and we wanted to see the regular one, we had to... More

The Royals in this area were incredible collectors of art. This museum has more Rubins than I have ever seen together at one time. The collection is simply amazing and laid out in an organized fashion. The headphones, which are included in the price of entrance, have very good comments & aided in appreciating the experience.

An excellent gallery, rivalling the collection in Vienna. The gallery is smaller than the Louvre or the Vatican Museum, but the pieces the gallery has are first class!
