this is a great outdoor market for food flowers and souveniers, with surprisingly cheap prices in some stalls. great selection of gourmet food which you can eat on a nearby chair or just while you walk. there is also a street restaurant with the traditional potato salad, sausage and pickles, and a section of shops specialsed in special meats, like... We simply loved exploring this big open-air market in Munich very close to Marientplatz. How cool it is that there is a big garden in the centre of the market! Our kids enjoyed so much fun marveling at booths decorated with garlands of sausages, different varieties of flowers, heaps of mountains of fresh fruit and vegetables. We enjoyed just looking... The market is great to visit, plenty of stalls to browse with some unusual gifts, but a bit pricey - I guess because it's a "tourist" market. Having said that - we got our cheapest cup of coffee ever there at a little stall where it was standing only. No seats, but the coffee was less than 1 euro and... More

Loved these markets- so much fresh food, with fruit, vegetables, cheese, cold meats and cooked food. And of course there were flowers, crafts, souvenirs, etc. Just be aware it's not open on Sundays. Didn't get to try the covered market because of this.

A great place to browse, people watch, & eat. Lots of vendors – souvenirs, fresh fruits & vegetables, food, & of course, beer! Many picnic tables available although you’ll have to share. Ideal way to spend an afternoon.

And feast for the eyes and senses! Everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to crafts souvenirs and more! The toilets were clean..leave the lady some money for her work. Try one of the sausages in a bunch for around 2 euro..you won't be disappointed.

I spend about an hour here as i wasn't really looking for anything in particular, but the variety of ingredients was overwhelming as well as the price for which they were sold; cheap! If i would live in Munich and i would do the amount of cooking i do now, i would definitely shop there on a weekly basis. And,... More

A great place to meet people and view the exotic specialties on offer. Whether its cheese, sausages, spices, Asparagus(in season) etc. You´ll find everything you might need, although not in all cases cheap ! It´s great to relax in the open air beer garden and you´ll find that in no time you´ll be chatting to other tourists or locals.

A Munich must-see is the Viktualienmarkt where very old and permanent retail stores operate with temporary merchants in a space which feels like an American style farmer's market. The key to navigating this very expansive retail environment is to understand that, generally, similar categories reside next to each other. For example, meat shops are together, flower shops are together, juice... More
