A great place to start or end the day. We always head here on our first day in Munich. We buy bread, cheese, olives, fruit, wine, etc. It is also a nice place to end a day with a beer. The market closes by 7pm or so, but there is a restaurant in the garden and a few take-away places... more

I strolled through here one morning in early June 2007. There were crowds of people which made the atmosphere more festive. This is a great place to get up close and personal with German food, drinks, crafts and people. I bought some wine, cheese, bread and lots of sausages. There are vendors selling fruit and veggies and even prepared salads.... more

Coming to viktualienmarkt was perhaps one of the highlights of our trip to Munich. You can see all kinds of vendors selling their produce and crafts in the market, people chilling at the cafe drinking beer, customers trying out food made by the locals, etc. We loved the sausage sandwich that we bought from a stand...(recommended by the local) and... more

If you like food markets or food on the run , this is the place for you. Sit at a table with a beer or stand at a stall with a bratwurst. There are butcher and cheese shops.Also a fine fish shop- stand at table restaurant. Since my last visit , there is now a new trendy shopping centre at... more
