I love this place, I really do but for a beer not the food. It has ambiance and character, great location and drink service. We were told by multiple locals to eat elsewhere, if we wanted a drink that fine but don't eat there. We did go for a drink and pretzel and saw other peoples meals and agree with... More

A old historic beer hall with fantastic beer which we thought were reasonable prices. ?8 for a litre of Weissbier can't really complain. Didn't try the food but looked good, presentation wise also. Make sure you take plenty of pictures especially the Stein safes located around the place. But most of all, the atmosphere was amazing. There were local musicians... More

The Hofbrauhaus am Platzl is one of the main stops on any good Third Reich Tour of Munich because of its connection to Hitler and his comrades in the early days of the Nazi Party. But its 400-year history offers you much more than just the ghosts of the Third Reich. It was built as a brewery for the King... More

This restaurant serves excellent typical bavarian/german food. The big problem with the Hofbräuhaus is that it's so big waiters and waiteresses tend to forget about you. We were three and ordered one sausage plate with sauerkraut on the side for each one of us. The first two sauerkraut dishes came with the three sausage plates and the third one took... More

I have been here many times over the past 35 years. It may be a cliche of German life but it remain great fun even if at €8 for a litre of beer it remains overpriced. The shop also sells good you can get cheaper elsewhere (eg €9 for a glass that I bought for €5.99 with a litre can... More

We went with the idea that it was going to be overly packed and super touristy. We went late in the evening and had no issues finding somewhere to sit. We got great service, awesome liters of beer and a few snacks to munch on! We had to go there, it's Munich! I'm glad we did. The pretzels for sale... More

Just what you expect from a Beer keller. Long tables lots of beer and umpah music. We were on a stag do so it was perfect for us, it was very hot so tables in the enclosed biergarten are a welcome relief.

We visited this place and saw how locals showing off their status of having their own permanent seats and beer stein "reserved". One claimed it is more important to have your seat here than his own marriage!

Steeped in history this place is a must visit when in Munich. It can be rather warm and cramped at times but all in all it's great. Get in the door, get a seat, order a beer then just sit back and relax. Live music, singing, dancing, eating and drinking.

A great place to taste traditional beer and have a traditional beer house experience, with Oompah band playing at various hours. Beers are served in large 1ltre glasses (though half litres are available until 6pm also). Wine and soft drinks are also available for non beer drinkers and there are also food options available. A really good experience
