Inside is huge, but even so it was very difficult to find a table to join. Luckily we did and the atmosphere is amazing; a mix of locals and tourists, waiters in traditional dress, girls selling pretzels, a live band playing...it was an experience in itself. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the area.

This restaurant looks like just your average German food establishment until you enter the dining area. Beautiful arched and hand painted ceilings reminiscent of something you'd see in Italy! Food was delicious and not too expensive depending on what you order. We loved the potato soup.

Went here twice. If you love people watching this is the place to be. You might need to do a few laps around to find a place to sit. Be aggressive and don't be afraid to ask if there is room for you at the table. The atmosphere is amazing with a band playing traditional music, complete with tuba and... More

The Hofbrauhaus is a great place to visit, despite it being a huge tourist destination. Spread over three floors, there must be over 2000 seats available, with some in a courtyard, but most inside. While it is customary to drink beer in steins (1 litre) the staff will server in 500ml if it's not too busy. If you don't want... More

My husband and I didn't plan on staying too long when we visited Hofbrauhaus. We realize it is considered a bit tourist-y, but it also made it very fun. We are not the most outgoing people, but spent several hours with a group of German and Finnish groups that were great fun. The beer was delicious. The food was decent.... More

I am NOT a fan of dark beer, but Hofbrauhaus' dark beer is great. So, go have a litre of their dark beer (it's the first one listed in the menu). It comes in a 1 litre glass, which has bubbles in the glass. The aim is to drink one bubble at a time (so you drink a litre of... More

Brilliant place. Try the Pork Knuckle with a litre of Weiss bier to wash it down. Can be hard to find a chair, but once you do, sit back & enjoy the largest beer house in Germany. Noisy & amazing!

Lots of lots of tourists in this place. The locals said that this place is too expensive to go and places like Augustina houses are lot better.

We stayed at a hotel right across the street from the Hofbrahaus and we went there everyday. The downstairs area looks and feels just like a tent at Oktoberfest complete with long tables, a band, beer maidens rushing around holding multiple steins, noisy beer drinkers and limited seating. If you go up stairs you will find a quieter intimate space... More

We were there every night during our 3 days trip. People are always coming and going to use the toilettes. Original black beer is really good. They bring empty glass to share 1 liter tankard. Half chicken menu is tasty too. Waiters are not enough and can not reach to serve promptly. The band is warming up the boozers. The... More
