Snotty, rude waiters ruin this legendary beer hall. The waiters I had to deal with were nasty and ugly, (esp. the bald guy with the red neck tattoo). Beer is expensive (almost 7 euros) as well. Also, the place is filled with drunk American teens. Go elsewhere..... more

The key to this place is where you sit. If you like noise and a big smoky crowds then definitely sit indoors with the long tables, the Oompah band and tourists. Hey why not? The beer's still the same and it's fun. However, if you sit at their restuarant's outdoor garden patio under the stars it's almost another world in... more

We were there on May 1, 2009, and the place was crowded with locals, many of whom were in traditional dress. We sat by the beer taps near the door to the beergarden and watched the constant stream of waiters and waitresses grabbing handfuls of mugs to bring back to the tables. The beer and the spatzel (sp) were great.... more

We were there in May 2007 - we joined a beer and brewery tour that ended at the Hofbrauhuas - it was great ... seating wasn't a problem and the place is huge. And the oompah band was a lot of fun. The servers are amazing - aside from the garb they have to wear all evening, the lady who... more

Just came back from Oktoberfest opening weekend. Started the trip with a stop at Hofbrauhaus which got me right in the mood! True, it is touristy, but that adds to the excitement. My friend and I ate outside, and the coolest thing was that all the tables around us held people from different countries. We met roudy Italians, Auzzies, Brits,... more

I came to visit this place which reminded me of the scene in one of the movies I watched in the big screen - The Titanic. The beer hall was like a hodge-podge of cultures with a commonality of reason why people hang out there. To experience merriment and joviality amongst people who are there for fun and to be... more

Am I really the only one who thought this was the beer hall equivalent of Disney World? If you want a real beer hall experience, please do not go here. Packed to the gills with camera happy tourists - very loud and obnoxious. We had to stop by to see what all the hub-bub was about and immediately turned right... more

Would you like somewhere quiet to relax? Hoping to get away from the hustle of a big European city? Then go far, far away from the Hofbrauhaus. Me? I like beer, I like crazy people, and I like crazy outfits. I got a whopping dose of all three at here. Pure drinking fun. more

Yes, it is touristy! Yes, you are probably a tourist! Go for it. We always try to eat what the locals eat and do what they do, BUT this place is great! What a fun outing and we went on a Sunday afternoon and took the family. Our service was pretty good and the place was packed. We had no... more
