I went here 4 times during a 7 day stay in Munich. It is mainly full of tourist, and the servers are rushed, but people are so friendly, the oompa band is so fun and the beer is so good you are bound to make memories. Everytime we went to the Hofbrauhaus, we met friendly Americans. Everyone one else was friendly too! Don't worry about the staff, they cannot piddle around with you, they have more than they can handle for customers. If you want personal service, go somewhere else. Be careful on the time you go. Snotty, rude waiters ruin this legendary beer hall. The waiters I had to deal with were nasty and ugly, (esp. the bald guy with the red neck tattoo). Beer is expensive (almost 7 euros) as well. Also, the place is filled with drunk American teens. Go elsewhere..... more

The key to this place is where you sit. If you like noise and a big smoky crowds then definitely sit indoors with the long tables, the Oompah band and tourists. Hey why not? We were there on May 1, 2009, and the place was crowded with locals, many of whom were in traditional dress. We sat by the beer taps near the door to the beergarden and watched the constant stream of waiters and waitresses grabbing handfuls of mugs to bring back to the tables.
