Join the crowds to view the glockenspiel chimes as well as the shops and cafes in the area. St. Peter's Church is also worth a visit.

Went for a coffee at the Cafe Glockenspiel 15 minutes before the Glockenspiel was due to strike at 11 and had a wonderful view. I also noticed the food being served looked good. This was certainly better than trying to see it standing in the crowd in the platz.

Marienplatz was a walking distance from our hotel.. Full of shopping places , active people, activites, historical buildings... Very nice square. The day germany was playing in the world cup the square was full of people cheering and doing activities and playing with people.. You can spend hours without being bored. Highly recommended

The Marienplatz is a required visit while in Munich. The clocktower only plays a couple times a day. It is better than clock towers in other large cities.

Marienplatz is a bustling 'little' square in the heart of München. Lots of places to shop and eat. There is a market area just off the square that sells fresh cheese, sausage and other delectable goodies. Also a very short walk away is the famous Hofbräuhaus. The main attraction here is the Rathaus-Glockenspiel.

The buildings architecture is beautiful but after taking a tour I found there is a lot of history wrapped up in this area also. Dark History Tours gave great insight into the transformation that took place. I highly recommend Marienplatz
