Seeing the castle has been on my to-do list for years, so we took a side trip from Munich to see it. You can go on a bus but we rented a car as part of a trip further afield in Austria. The village below is very touristy. We have small children and didn't think they'd like the Bavarian kings... More

If you have any problem to walk, be sure you take the transport is offered with the horses. Otherweise takes around 30 mins to walk up. The tour takes just 30 minutes, as the castle is just partially finished. We had to walk both ways, due to the bad weather, but it was woth it.

I planned to visit Germany, because of one picture that I saw few years ago. When I figured it out that the scenery of the picture was this castle, I could not wait to go there....!!!!! Fortunately, the weather was sunny. Wherever I took a picture, I could make some art:) It spent several months, but I still want to... More

We walked up the hill to the castle. It was a nice walk. The castle is beautiful inside and outside, but the guided tour was below par. There were too many people in the tour so if you didn't stay close to the guide, you couldn't really hear anything. As we have just gone to Herrenchiemsee, it was quite a... More

Disney Sleeping Beauty castle was inspired in Neuschwanstein but the castle is far beyond that narroiw view. Neuschwanstein Castle is the most amazing castle I’ve seen this far in my travels, and one of the most spectacular buildings I´ve been in my life. In the German Alps dividing Germany from Austria, the Castle overlooks not 1, but 2 lakes, is... More

I've been to many castles in the world, if you can only visit one castle in Europe, this will be it. It has everything that a castle needs to have in a rather manageable size. No wonder this inspired Walt Disney to build his Disney castle. I didn't realize there is a 1.5 km hike up to the entrance of... More

This rather expensive admission and tour was not worth the money. The English speaking tour guide spoke so softly, we could barely hear her. Then if you asked a question she spoke only to you and didn't bother to let the others on the tour in on the question and her answer. The whole thing was rather perfunctory. Take your... More

This was my second trip back, now visiting as an adult with my own family. My 3 and 5 year old daughters love it. The 5 year old made the walk up the hill and we took the carriage down. I would recommend not taking a stroller. We used a carrier for the 3 year old and the few people... More

The ticket office was chaos and when you get to the castle you can see that they are just pumping them in and out as quickly as possible. It costs nothing to go around the outside or take pictures from Marienbrucke. Keep in mind that this castle was never used as a residence, so the interior is just part of... More

The Gray Line Tour to Neuschwanstein is a great deal. Our guide, Bridget, was great! The castles are unbelievable and the small Bavarian towns are darling. It rained the entire time but didn't put a damper on anything. A must do day trip from Munich!
