The castles are beautiful; the countryside beautiful; but see it on your own if possible. I am attaching our story of the bus tour out of Munich which I have sent to both Viator and Gray Line Corp. On October 14, 2009 (Wednesday), we took your Castle Tour out of Munich (VIATOR , cost: $57.39 per person plus 15 euro... more

The Neuschwanstein Castle was a day trip we took from Munich. We decided to go with a tour company because the trains and buses to get to the castle seemed confusing. We were totally glad we did. We use Munich-Direct. The guide was perfect! He made the trip. The outside views and pictures are what make this trip worthwhile. The... more

This castle is so beautiful, just like in all the photos. The Throne room was my favorite with the religious artwork and crown chandelier. So much detail went into building this masterpiece! I recommend taking a bus tour there if you are traveling from Munich. I went with Mike's Bikes Tour - http://www.mikesbiketours.com/36.html. Brad was a great guide! Bring Cash... more

We visited the Neuschwanstein Castle during a recent driving holiday in Germany, based on rave reviews in two guide books. We were so disappointed by it. OK the weather that day was grey and foggy and one couldn't see the beautiful scenery at all, so we were really hoping the inside of the castle and the guided tour would make... more

Visited this castle on the 27 August 09.During our tour of Germany this was probably the one castle that I really wanted to see. We arrived early in the morning to avoid the anticipated crowds at the ticket booth and were successful as we purchased our tickets within five minutes (cost 9 euros pp).In fact during our half morning trip... more

To see this castle properly one needs to spend the night in Hohenschwangau or Fussen the night before the tour. This allows for some time before and after the actual castle tour to explore the grounds and possibly hike up the mountain a ways, where the "postcard" pictures are taken. You can get to the castle one of three basic... more

We visited this Castle by train from Munich in early July. The first thing to say is that it is a long journey including one change of train. We must have been on a particularly slow train and even then, we sat for half an hour at one station before moving on, so it took a long time to arrive.... more

Absolutely breathtaking and the drive out from Munich (Romantic route) is the most popular tourist route in the whole of Europe. Will never forget this trip - magical. Way better than the Grand Canyon for example. more

We have seen this Castle on the Cover of So Many Travel Guides and thought that it Must Be Great! Wrong!!! It is an absurd Travellers Trap. They make you park at the bottom of a Huge Hill and expect people to hike all the way to the top to enter this NOT THAT OLD Castle. If you want to... more

Don’t bother. The tour guide Roland if you can call him that was a joke. His awkward nature and bad jokes was a cocktail of disaster. His extremely limited insight to the history of Ludwig and the castle was pretty disappointing along with his attitude in general. There were no reserved seats for the tour on the first leg of... more
