If you don't wish to spend the $48 euros to go to the highest point in Germany - about 10,000 feet - take the next step and go to the Alpspitz. It is lower in height and cheaper in cost. But it is also quite exciting. They have a lookout - a metal walk that stretches over the mountain. Not... More

Even during the summer months this area holds something for everyone. The Alpine Flora and Fauna is fascinating and the ariel platform is inspiring, the glass bottom allows an interesting view into the void.

I loved to get up there! Wonderful view and much much cheaper than getting to Zugspitze! Worth a visit!

The ride on the Alpstiz Cable car is wonderful ...there is is short wlk when you get off at the Restaurant to the Platform. Take a picture with your feet and the huge drop into the valley. You can take the Bus to the Cable car it costs 1.50 eu one way. On the Bus it says Alpspitz Bahn. The... More

We chose to go to Alpspitz instead of Zugspitz because it was half the price and it was a bit cloudy on the higher peak. We did not feel deprived at all on the Alpspitz trip though. There are three gondolas with a short hike between two of them. Make sure you get a map though it isn't difficult to... More

At the top you just have to walk out onto the Alpinix platform. The drop beneath you is breathtaking. The floor is of honeycombed construction so you can see everything beneath you!!

Outstanding ride up on the gondola, outstanding views especially from the platforms. Dress warm, it was below freezing even in September. Much cheaper than the Zugspitz and 25 euro compared to 50 euro.

Very high and very scary, but in that day was a fog, so we were not able to enjoy the panoramic views.

We decided to do the Alp on the only rainy day on our holiday.....but it was wonderful. Caught the gondola up. Walked down for an hour or so and had lunch. By which time the weather was horrid so caught the gondola up and then down again. Do it. It's a great walk.

Bought a Zugspitze Goldcard for 3 days and this was one of the trips. The cable car ride is fabulous - take a deep breath! There is so much to see and do up on the mountain, we are not skiers so this was a first for our family and oh man is it awe inspiring up there. Fabulous day... More
