I stopped in here to see a woodcarving demonstration and was asked to come back the next day. When I did, he gave me a DVD of a German news story done on his technique. I use this in my classroom. Many talented artists can be found here.

The outside of this building is beautiful and the maze garden at the front is pretty covered in snow. Inside you can admire so of the local artist carving objects. Upstairs is a collection of wood carving from nativity scenes to wood toys. We had this included in the ticket of the passion play theatre backstage tour, but I believe... More

Sadly this was closed on Monday. We could only enjoy the area from the outside. The gardens were very lovely and well kept. We would have loved ton see the carvers.

Just visited this place in a great small town. My girls, ages 8 and 10, especially enjoyed watching a wood carver and porcelain decorator both working on pieces. We spent only 20 minutes since the building is small but well worth the visit if you are driving through the town. We had stopped for lunch on our way to the... More

Oberammagau is most famous for its centuries old passion play. However, during other times of the year, it is still a wonderful town to visit. Located deep within beautiful Bavaria, Oberammagau is already blessed with natural beauty that is Bavaria. However, what makes this gem of a town stand out is the painted walls. Practically every building in town has... More

Oberammergau's external wall-mural paintings at their very best. Would have liked the chance for a peek inside.

We were only able to see the exterior of this house but the painting on the walls is absolutely great with the perspective of the stairs leading to the balcony being something just wonderful to admire.
