Not only is this one of the most peaceful places I've been lucky enough to stumble upon, it is also the perfect place to clear your mind. The scenery was so intensely beautiful I wasn't quite sure how to absorb what laid out in front of me. I hope the photo I have uploaded does it justice to people considering... More

Even though it was raining the boat trip and views were fabulous. Some waiting for the boat half way but well worth it for the views.

I caught the bus to Koenigsee (King's Lake) from Berchtesgaden. It calls itself a village, but it's a very extensive one, almost every building being tourist accommodation of one kind or another. There is also a big camping ground/caravan park, and a huge car park for day visitors. Everyone comes to take a boat trip on the Koenigsee, in one... More

We took a bobsled ride down the world cup track at Konigess. You are in a 4 man bobsled with a professional driver. The bobsled is very cramped so its quite uncomfortable and hard to get in. However it is definitely work the effort. The 1 minute or so ride is amazing! You go around 120km/hour and pull 4-5 Gs... More

An amazing place. Totally worth to go there and take the boat trip to the chapel. Specially beautifully during the winter.

For me, the most impressive thing about the Königssee is how clear and pristine the lake and its surroundings are. This is partly due to a decree made over 100 years ago by Prince-Regent Luitpold that only electric boats can be used on the lake. I would definitely recommend taking the boat ride out onto the lake. It is a... More

A nice panoramic ride on the boats. Beautiful but not IMHO as good as the nearby Hintersee. Highlight is probably when the boat captain plays a bugle in the middle of the lake and it echoes back across the water.

The electric boats will whisk you across water to St Bartholoma. Your boat skipper may play the trumpet to mimic the famous recording of music bouncing back off the cliff faces. Stare at the vertiginous East face of the Watzman which Herman Buhl climbed in the dark in the depth of winter to train for his accent on Nanga Parbat.... More
