We got down to Schonau am Konigsee to get the boat relatively early but it was already busy. However the whole experience is quite well organised as you might expect. It was ~45 minutes wait to get the boat and we were almost first in the queue so got a good seat. The views traveling down the lake are spectacular... More

To be honest this is the clearest and probably the most beautiful lake i have ever seen. Located at the southern edge of Germany, it is truely a hidden gem. Most tourists are German, not many foreigner went there. I stayed at Salzburg and it is just 40 minutes by bus or an hour by train to Berchtesgarten Hbf. Then... More

This lake is very nice and on a sunny or clear day can be breathtaking! highly recommend a boat ride to the nearby church where there are some stunning views of the lakes with green nature! To the left of the lake , you can hike for 20min to reach a point named "Malerwinkel" where you can get a stunning... More

This is the iconic focus point of the Berchtesgarden area. We took bus 841 from the station (all buses are free with a guest card from your hotel). The walk down to the lake is a bit gaudy with all the shops selling typical touristy items! Very easy to purchase a ticket, we chose a ticket to Salet which is... More

Many clouds covered the mountains, but the lake is just so beautiful anyway. Don't miss the view from "Malerwinkel", here you get the best view. The harbour city is also very cosy but maybe a little touristed.

We took the boat trip to St.Bartholomew and loved every minute of it. The scenery is incredible and the walk around the lake was very rewarding. Boat trip is a must if you are in the area.

The charming village hosts the most beautiful inland sea in all of Germany, surrounded by tall Alps dense pine forests. The boat trip is a must. It's about $20US and you can travel to a couple of disembarkation points in the fjord for lunch, hiking, photography or to visit the pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomew. Plan the whole day for... I first arrived on the Friday evening at about 1715hrs in early August to find I had missed the last boat. The following morning we returned at 0830hrs and took a round trip to Salet - cost about 17e a head. Despite being so early the boat was packed though fortunately I did not need to queue to get on...
