The electric boats will whisk you across water to St Bartholoma. Your boat skipper may play the trumpet to mimic the famous recording of music bouncing back off the cliff faces. Stare at the vertiginous East face of the Watzman which Herman Buhl climbed in the dark in the depth of winter to train for his accent on Nanga Parbat.... More

I went in December of 2014. Weather was cold but too much, about about 10 degrees during the day. Took the 841 bus (you can take the 842 as well) and went for a walk. Took the path behind the boat sheds on the left that took me over to a couple of spots where you can sit and relax... More

It was so quiet at the end of November. We took an 1:20 tour on a boat departing from Schönau, round-tripping to Sankt Bartholomä and back. The staff on the boat were very personable and humorous and even demonstrated the echo effect you can get on the lake. Nice way to kill an hour just before dusk -- too bad... More

Dismal weather in Berchtesgaden but took the boat trip onto Lake Konigsee and warmed up immediately: efficient heating on the boat plus a knowledgeable guide. Plenty of good photo opportunities but chose not to disembark at St Bartholoma chapel as clouds closing in. Can imagine how sublime the whole area would be in Summer.

We came here, and took up to 20mins to find parking slot. But after that we walked through nice village, with lot of souvenirs. Take boat trip to see this briliant crystal water lake. Guides are nice, they narrate interesting story and, for sure, call for tip at the end.... but this are is really crowded in summer weekends

The visit we made in 1984 was magic. But in 2013 the crowds pushed the beauty nearly out of the picture. I can't say "don't go." But be prepared, especially if you have the kids along. It's turned into a carnival of vendors and pushy people.

Visited whilst staying at Berchtesgarden. The sail on the lake was brilliant (however you shall need to understand German to appreciate the commentary). Stop off and have a beer and visit the ice cave

This was our fourth visit to Konigssee and we pay for the boat trip every time. It's such a beautiful spot and difficult to appreciate if you don't take the boat - the part of the lake you see from the town at the end is really just the tip. The town itself is quite interesting, with some decent places... More

We liked a natural beauty of the place. You can also see Eagle's Nest up on the mountain. We wish we had more time to take the boat cruise - next time we will.
