This is a spectacularly beautiful part of the world. See it by boat or an energetic walk and you will be glad you did. Great views can be had from the relatively inexpensive restaurant across the Konigssee from the boat docks - literally the last building before the cliffs

Easy to get to from Berchtesgaden Hbf (main train station) via bus. Absolutely gorgeous - crystal clear lake surrounded by mountains. Commentary in both English and German. Absolutely stunning and so relaxing, a must see!

The view from the mountain retreat were breathtaking. And the view - and electric motor boat ride - were relaxing and interesting.

Beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. You need to go up a little in order to actually have a view over it. And some of the places and be reached only by boat. We did not get to climb very high as it started to rain heavily. Plenty souvenir stores and restaurants where we could savor the local products and food.... More

Gorgeous traditional Bavarian village nestled in the foothill of the Alps near the German-Austrian border. Great selection of food and drink, including proper restaurants, cafes, gelaterias and beer gardens - my favourite is the beer garden down at the lake's edge next to the pier. Only four stars as it is VERY touristy - on my first visit the queue... More

Beautiful summer afternoon spent lying on the lake bank and swimming. Whilst locals had told us the water was very cold, we found it very refreshing and not at all too cold. The major problem was the grass bank is tiny. Very little room. But the setting is beautiful and the water clear. Town itself has souvenir shops every few... More

Stunning lake with large mountains rising from the waterside. Lots of boat trips but be aware that like all lakes the boats finish around 5pm. There may be evening sailings however we could see any advertised. Large visitors parking is nearby with a pedestrian road leading to the lakeside. This is lined with tourist shops and restaurants.

We went on the Lake with a tour group. We only went as far as St. Bartholomew's church. It is on an island about a third of the way on the lake. Weather was horrible the day we went but most of our group was prepared for it. Boats were clean and well maintained. The only issue we had was... More
