Gorgeous, huge, clean lake surrounded by mountains. We took a boat/small ferry to an island called St Bartolamei. There are wonderful walkin/climbing trails around the lake. Most people either had a picnic lunch with them or ate at the restaurant.

What a serene way to spend they day. Our hotel staff suggested we not go to The Eagle's Nest this day so we went to the lake and took the boat ride. Had lunch and listened to the flugelhorn playing to the echo. Unforgettable

Go to Konigssee if you can, easily top five landscapes I've ever witnessed in my entire life. I was floored by how large the mountains are, how clear the lake is and the shear beauty of the place. Top five things to see in Europe

The Konigssee is a very scenic spot with a mixture of walking trails with lovely views. It would be a very good and low or no cost place to take families with children to have a picnic, feed the ducks, etc. there are boats which take people up the lake to the end and then return, however we didn't do... The idyllic lake stretches like fjord through pristine mountain scenery to the dramatically situated Church of St. Bartholoma and beyond. Тhe lake is so beautiful but during my visit it was so busy which spoiled the enjoyment of its tranquillity. It is said that the red-onion-domed church was once home of a monastery, then a hunting lodge of the Bavarian... More

This quiet, tranquil trip along the beautiful Konigsee is well worth the visit. The electric boat stops to allow you to hear a person blow a small tune on their trumpet whose sounds echoes through the mountains (plan on paying a small tip for this service). Stopping at St. Bartholoma for lunch brings you back to the imagined old German... More

I visited Konigsee in October, and was lucky enough to have faultless weather the whole trip. I caught the 9:10 bus from Berchtesgaden with a smallish group of tourists - Konigsee was still setting up when we arrived! Piad the full price (around about 19 Euros I think) for the return trip to Salet. The boats are lovely, and the... More

We arrived on an October morning with the lake still in fog but it lifted quite soon. The tour on the boat itself is okay - of course it's touristic and the guides say the same all the time. I strongly recommend to take good hiking shoes and go all the way until Salet. Once in Salet, follow direction Obersee... More

This "inland fjord" has, in its upper reaches, water as blue as the Adriatic. The interplay of small waterfalls from the mountains towering overhead, the fir trees, flowers and water is breathtaking. There is no commercial development along it outside of the area around the boat docks. Take the boat (electric only, by the 100 year old decree of crown... More

don't miss the place if you are in Berchtesgaden from the entry it looks like a normal tourist spot lake, but to have real feel take the ferry until end point do not forget to take camera and some food along as you may like to hike and spend few hours around scenic Konigsee. Highly recommended and I miss Berchtesgaden......nice... More
