Came for the X-mas markets of which many are centered near the Schlossplatz. Unfortunately the greenspace was wet and downtrodden. The beautiful monument in the center of the grassy area was covered in scaffolding. The markets were beautiful with gingerbread goodies, wieners, gluhwein, candles, a train and ferris wheel for the kids, and lots of good cheer. Seemed like a... More

we absolutely love the Christmas markets in Europe. This one couples a great market with fabulous food and gluhwein with open space and nice architecture. A decent sized ice skating ring, fabulous small train model that includes a ride for the kids and of course food galore. Definitely a location we want to visit again and see more of the... More

Looks just like any other palace in Europe, but this place comes alive during xmas. The xmas market was amazing and please arrive early in the afternoon and help yourself to the goodies. You can barely move through the crowd at night, not joking. I've been other cities in Germany and nothing compares to Stuttgart when it comes to density... More

It seems like this time of year Christmas markets pop of everywhere but this one blows the others I've seen away. With awesome food and decorations and even an ice rink and miniature train ride it was full of festivities

Schlossplatz is a place that one should definitely visit when in Stuttgart. Walk around and enjoy the architectural view (the Neues Schloss, Konigsbau, Alte Kanzlei etc.), sit down on a bench or directly on the grass and relax, enjoy food, coffee/beer, and deserts at one of the numerous cafes/restaurants, shop around...There is always something happening here (concerts, art exhibitions, festivals...)...There... When my friend and I visited, the Weihnachtsmarkt was still being built, but on the Monday we were pleasantly surpised to find a pop-up exhibition just inside the Schloss gate: Das Geheimnis der Keltenfürstin, or: the Secret of the Celtic queen - three graves found during an excavation: one is a bejeweled queen, alien to this area; one is a... Dropped by after my meetings in zurich. Had a great time here. Clean streets, many shopping areas and restaurants too. The square has very nice buildings and the tree leaves are orange and yellow at this time of the year. A great place to hang out and take many pictures.

Lovely cafes Lovely shops. one should visit "Saturn" and other nice shops in "Königsbau Passagen" There was a very nice book shop "Buchhaus Wittwer" which one can buy diverse books from. The fountains were found photogenic Next to the Schlossplatz there was the market place where the wine festival was in late August 2014

This area is in the middle of the center and is an open space where people sit down on restaurants, sit at the lawn infront of the palace. Always crowded on a sunny day.

I traveled to Stuttgart for business and would spend evenings in the Palace Square after dinner. Terrific access to restaurants and shopping, but the square itself is beautiful. Unfortunately construction was being performed in the center of the square when I visited in June, but still a breathtaking spot!
