Excellent panoramic view of the town and the houses across the river. Nice but busy bridge, great photo opportunities.

The Necker river, like most rivers has flooded during periods of heavy rainfall. Previous bridges over the river were washed out before this sandstone bridge was built with its high arches. Painted marks along the arch adjacent to the road illustrate the high water marks reached during the long period of the bridge's history, suggesting its builders built an excellent... More

Interesting late medieval bridge with good views of the schloss above, the mountains and the river. If one crossed the bridge, an interesting alternative view of the town.

This bridge was restored after WW2. The Germans, after hearing that the Americans were coming, decided to blow the bridge up to prevent the Americans from catching the Germans as they were retreating across the bridge. Great views, close to river cruises.

The view is one of the most splendid in southern Germany. The hilly landscape, the Castle and Old Town make for picture book views. Had to pinch myself to believe it was... More

What a treat to walk out of our hotel and see the Alte Bruecke outside. It is a nice photo op and you can take a nice walk across the river and take photos of the whole old town with the Heidelberg castle nestled above. It was great land mark to aim for when driving day or night.

I was lucky enough to visit Heidelberg a few times and was able to stay for a number of days at a time. This is such a lovely place to see during the day, absorbing the history, appreciating its story and admiring the awe inspiring craftsmanship. It offers a wonderful veiw of the buildings either side of the bridge as... More
