We went already a few times to the top of the Feldberg. It is a very easy climb which is not really rewarded on the top. As it is the highest "mountain" in the black forest, it might be worth a visit but the top is kind of a flat ridge so not really good. The view is nice but... More

Whilst in Freiburg we decided to go for a drive up to the mountain. Well worth it as the views were excellent and still plenty of snow to mess about in or ski whatever your choice. Can see why some people score it down as its one of the more built up mountain locations we have been to. Was quiet... More

Great wintersport location. This year was my 9th year in a row and I still love to be there. The people at the Thoma wintersport Schule are really nice. When I was younger I took lessons there. Great hospitality. We stayed at the Feldbergerhof, which is a great hotel for families. The hotel also has a really nice swimmingpool which... More

Feldberg is the highest mountain in the Black Forest - but not the most beautiful. Sadly it bears the scars of thoughtless development hatched in the 70s in an effort to please the masses. And, it seems it does please them, as they come in droves, many not even bothing to climb the 176m from the carpark to the top... More

When this ski resort is covered in thick snow, and operating as designed, it's very good. At least, it was when I worked there - 50 years ago! I've been back twice, each time in the Summer, and found it to have changed for the worse. Development has not been sensitive to the setting - buildings seem to have been... More

Not to be missed, a visit to the Black Forest is certainly a must in this area. The views are fantastic.

Its very nice to be there in summer. The view from the top is amazing but should bring a warm coat cause its cold on top eventhough the sun is shinning. You can started from Feldsee and hiking thourgh beautiful autumn forest to Feldberg and climb to the top of the hill. I was satisfy with this half day trip.... More

This is a lovely day out for when it's dry. The Feldberg is a high, treeless hill which you can access on foot or with a cable car ride. Amazing views at the top, we have been several times and always choose to ride up and walk back down to make the most of the scenery. There are shops and... More

The ski centre here provides a good base from which to access local hiking routes and to access the summit of the Feldberg via the cable car. When we visited (early August) it was heaving and it is clear that the German's are in danger of loving it to death in the same way as we are with our own... More

We were staying in Freiburg for a few days. Had planned prior to travel to see a tiny sneak peak of the vast Schwarzwald. We only had one day reserved for this. We got a map and some hiking tips and routes in written form from tourist office. We asked some locals for hiking tips: what would they recommend for... More
