Cathedral - a must visit

Building is an excellent example starting with Romanesque to Gothic, plus stained glass of various periods. Fine location in friendly town-centre.

Well worth the visit. It was currently (July 2015) undergoing restoration work on the outside, but the inside was absolutely magnificent to experience. We sat inside for a time, just enjoying the glass work and architecture and soaking up the atmosphere and reflecting on life. Some people say that all these buildings are the same. Well, this one is well... More

We enjoyed walking round this building and looking at the glass. There is a quiet in here which is relaxing to sit in. Unfortunately, tours in English are only available as part of the Friday and Saturday organised tours of Freiburg. We wished we had known this in advance so we could have planned to be in Freiburg at the... More

What a beautiful building. The fact that it was largely paid for by the local craft guilds is still evidenced by their designs as displayed on the stained glass windows. (I haven't seen stained glass bagels or boots anywhere else!). The entrance portal, festooned with painted statues is a perfect preparation for the riot of colour in the stained glass... More

The Freiburger Cathedral is amazing, one of the oldest Cathedrals I am not too sure when it was finished but it must have been around 1400 BC. It is a Catholic and alone the main entrance is worth observing. There are concerts also some evening int eh cathedral but one has to watch out the one's seat is not behind... More

When visiting, do not forget to look at the portal, as it still has colored statues - the way these cathedrals used to look.

Beautiful Gothic architecture , set in the heart of the town with pleasant cafes around the open spaces that surround this magnificent cathedral . Well worth a visit.

The cathedral was under construction on the outside but still looks regal. Inside the stainglass windows and artwork was beautiful. They have a map with info in English to help you understand the artwork/statues/windows! A bonus is there is a fresh food market outside the cathedral open most days til 1PM!

You have to go inside. Go to the altar and just sit. Allow the peace and history of the place to give you a sense of what this once has been.

Great place, interesting history about the cathedral and details all around to be studied. The square around the cathedral is beautiful, the entrance of the cathedral is a special place to be seen.
