Tip - the items sold on the left side (looking at the front entrance to the Münster) are from local farmers. The items on the right are trade merchants. Someone is constantly checking scales for proper weight. This is a nice morning ritual with the exception of Sunday morning when just about 90%+ of Freiburg is shut down all day.

This is a terrific spot to walk around the market. The smell of fresh produce is fantastic. There's a few places to sit out and have a drink and a bite to eat and watch the world go by. None of the establishments appealed to us for food but to have a drink is very nice

First of all, I want to outline that the town is nice, there are beautiful places to see. However, the whole experience yielded in a huge deception. We went to visit a friend who lives in Freiburg. Arrived at the city, we parked the car and paid a royal 9 EUR for the parking space, as 5 hours or more... More

Munsterplatz is nothing special, nor is the Cathedral. Still though - Freiburg can charm everyone. People are super friendly, streets are full of citizens and students wandering around, sitting in cafes and bars. In the mornings the place features food market with local products, flowers and crafts. Nearby parkings cost around 2CHF per hour.

This is the best day to wander around the Munsterplatz. The market is in full swing and offers great flowers, vegetables, fruit, bread, meat, etc. People watching from one of the side cafes is a must!

Nice Saturday market with local products. Locals get their "Wurst" there after having done their shopping.

Went to the town square both in the evening and the next morning when the place was packed with open market traders, selling various fruits, veges, ornaments, cheese, breads, cakes, etc. We took our time strolling through the area and the different smells and colourful sights just delight the senses. Bought the famous cheesecake from Stefan's and indeed it was... More

We enjoyed a tour of the Munsterplatz with its market stalls and entertainment whilst having a drink at one of its cafes. Would thoroughly recommend the sausage stalls of which there are many making it difficult to select what you want. We'll just have to go back and try one of the other ones.
