The square is the center of everything! The shops and streets all feed into the square. Mon-Sat there is a morning market with local crafts, food, flowers, toys, and souvenirs. I like to sit down at one of the restaurants and grab some coffee or ice cream. Always charming and never a disappointment!

especially on saturday mornings from 5 am, when there is a farmers market. Medieval architecture and cobblestone, small alleys and a very lovely view.

Worth a visit when in town, beautiful building, free entry although there is a small charge for going up in the tower.

My wife and I drove from Baden Baden, well its much better place here and bigger in size. Also, old buildings are better preserved here. A half day would do it.

Always enjoy walking around Munsterplatz, something new always catches the eye. Either sitting watching the world go by at one of the outside restaurants, or grazing the amazing street food when the market is on. Not to be missed when visiting the city.

Even if I live in Freiburg I'm still not tired to walk around the münster. I quite like the market and I enjoy the fact that it's run by locals. They are kind and the stuff they sell interesting.

One of this nice places that you can find in Germany. I was last 26th October and at the religious time between 11 and 12 hour. His clocks are very impressive. Also has see many people and a curious procession of the Guardians of Christ from Jerusalem with his typical clothes (Man and woman). To relax you have many opportunities... More

One of the best parts of this town. The square is dominated by the impressive minster and other fine architecture. The flowers especially in the market are lovely to see. There are also lots of good shops nearby. Well worth a visit.

Tip - the items sold on the left side (looking at the front entrance to the Münster) are from local farmers. The items on the right are trade merchants. Someone is constantly checking scales for proper weight. This is a nice morning ritual with the exception of Sunday morning when just about 90%+ of Freiburg is shut down all day.
