The Munsterplatz is right in front of the Freiburg Cathedral, is a busy market every day but Sunday. It is fronted by many lovely outdoor eating places, including Oberkirch Wienstube. You can get a sausage sandwich to eat while walking around, and get flowers, fine woodwork, and it is fun to just walk around. There is a historic "corn hall",... More

Get there early, well at least before midday. We arrive in early April and there were plenty of market stalls to visit, flowers, vegetables, cheese and some great toys stalls. Most of the stallholders speak English, but give the German ago, you might end buying something completely different. We also bought lunch as there are plenty of hot food stands.... More

The market at munsterplatz is a must see, Spend at least an hour there, taste the various foods, take pictures of the market and the surrounding views, have a coffee and cake at the konditorei in the yellow building.

A market was on and it was busy but a wonderful atmosphere and plenty to see. Great food available and to sit down and watch the world go by was very nice. Helped that the sun was shining! Well worth a visit.

A very busy place during the week and on Saturdays with meal carts and flowers. It has an old world charm that is very comforting and enjoyable.

This is near the Cathedral and there are a lot of shops and interesting historical buildings. There are ancient drains on the street so be aware of where you walk. The outside of the Cathedral is awesome but it was too late to enter by the time we were walking after dinner.

This cathedral was built between 1200 and 1530 and is much like the gothic cathedrals in other areas. I am always surprised at the detail achieved by carving sandstone. The gargoyles, spires and saints on the outside are impressive. The inside is not so detailed except when it comes to the beautiful stained glass windows- amazing! Part of the cathedral... More

Has a brilliant Minday to Saturday market with the most amazing selection of food, much of it local, plus flowers, Nik-naks, sausage stalls by the dozen and some great coffee shops and restaurants with lots of outside seating, although be aware that this is very touristy and the food and wine is geared towards that customer. We were there on... More

Interesting square in the center of old town Freiburg, dominated by the cathedral. Site of market during the days, featuring various vegetable, cheese, meat vendors, several crafts stalls, and a half dozen or so sausage stands. At least in the winter months, everything closes up by early evening and the square is virtually deserted at nights.
