Instead of Pecan rolls, you have black forest ham, bread and cuckoo clocks. In fairness to the lake, I visited in Early April and the lake was sill frozen and there were huge piles of frozen, melting slush. We went into the restaurant for a coffee and the requisite slice of Black Forest Cake. It was the beginning of tourist... More

The drive to the lake is good with great views, the lake itself is beautiful and surprisingly peaceful even with a crowd of bikies making a pit stop. Nice and quiet due to the fact that apart from the lake there is only the hotel & souvenir shop/mini bakery next door. They have some pretty good souvenirs, a good range... More

Went to Lake Mumelsee from Baden Baden by a car the journey itself was the fascinating part as you will witness the beautiful density of black Forrest trees long the drive , the lake is beautiful but I would n't say amazing .. you may spend about 1-2 hours max in the lake site as there are some souvenirs shops... Great viewing area there & on the way / way back. Not really all that big but worth a visit. The local restaurant & schnell-Imbiss is also worthwhile.

Lovely spot in the heights of the Black Forest... and on the way north or south via the scenic, mountain route to or from Baden Baden. A bit overwhelmed by the number of buses disgorging bargain-hunting tourists. On the plus side? There's great hiking in the area, with loads of well-marked trails.

This is a beautiful lake but the area around the lake is full of mediocre tourist shops and restaurants. Best beer in cafe opposite the railway station! Great boat trip in a look alike pirate ship!

The Berghof hotel is new and they have a nice snack bar (imbiss) and gift shop, with Black forest products, BUT the claim of an amusement park for kids is a bit stretched and you can walk around the "lake" in less than 10 minutes at a slow pace. It is located in the midst of the forest, so that's... More

A very picturesque lake, small and round one, with a black deep water.

Mummelsee can be reached by the Baden Baden public transport bus no 245 which starts from Augustaplatz. The journey takes about 45 minutes and drops you right next to the lake. The sight is amazing and a trek around the lake should not be missed. Choose from the restaurant upstairs (a little expensive) and the take away counters downstairs. The... More
