Large and partially preserved medieval castle. We arrived by car with the road being narrow a bit winding. Entrance was free (at least when we arrived) and you could explore most of it and climb (the steep and many) stairs all the way to the tall watch-tower, with excellent view over the Rhine valley and the city of Baden-Baden. Please... More

This funicular is at the end of a residential bus line, and offers the rider a great view of much of the surrounding countryside.

My friends and I decided to hike to the Alte Schloss from next to the festspielhaus and ended up on a roadside for the first 15 minutes. After completing the round journey I noticed an actual trail that started from the town center. Lesson learned. Arriving at the ruins I was in awe, the entire complex was about 6 stories... More

This ancient castle is wonderfully enchanting. It is very big and you can explore from the bottom all the way to the top... take the stairs, or climb the walls a bit to get an exciting view. It really is amazing.

We had the most wonderful time in the ruins of old castle. The view is beautiful on top of the ruins. There is a wind harp that was installed in one part of the wall of the castle that will make eerie sound when the wind gushes through the castle.. Great place to take good pictures and fantastic place to... More

Was pleasantly surprised that how amazing this place is. Easy to find and plenty parking space and is free. The view is fantastic, lots sitting arrangement in every spot should you need to sit down for a rest.

We went to Baden-Baden for some sightseeing and ended up going up to the Alt Schloß and wow what an experience. We went with two small kids and they enjoyed running around the ruins and taking pictures. The view from the very top is breathtaking! A MUST if you are in the Area!

4 euro return, up a very steep gradient.....2013 see the 100 years that the two carrages have been going up and down their tracks.. View from the top looks over Baden Baden, on a clear day it would be magnificant, unfortunately low clouds restricted our view. Restaurant at the top provided provided good coffee and other fair to keep ones... More

Burg Hohenbaden was an interesting ruin. I really wish I knew more about the history of it before I went there. There seemed to be no guides to explain anything there, but I found out later that one could have organized a tour. The castle had many staircases taking you to many different rooms small & large until you moved... More

Enjoyed the hike, once we found the way markers (look out for the little signs near a wooden gazebo where the concrete paths end above the town). Lovely views from the top, and very well done access so you can climb right to the top (even if you are scared of heights!). Good spot to relax with a drink/cake/ice cream... More
