Some memories remain fresh in your mind even after a long span of time. Our visit to island of Mainau is as fresh as a flower, a flavor or a favor. Spread over an area of 45 hectares of land, the lusciously green Island of Mainau in Lake Constance houses an exceptional diversity of trees, flowers and shrubs. It is... More

A bit too far. Euro 19 was way too expensive. Butterflies were beautiful but as seen in other places. Island was clean but nothing exceptional. Been to open-to-public parks which were as well-tendered.

Overcast and cool did not deter from our visit. Late October and the Dalias were amazing. I googled the Bernadotte family and had a little history lesson before arriving. So glad I did! We had a wonderful stroll through the gardens and was excited to see a honey bee exhibit since we are bee keepers. (The exhibit could use a... More

This beautiful island was featuring thousands of Dahlias the day that we visited. Visit early for fewer crows. We were there on a Saturday and by the time we left it was packed. Nice trails. Cafes to enjoy, and interesting walks. Definitely a don't miss if you are in the Lake Constance area.

This has been developed so well with its butterfly zone and collection of species of plants and vegetables- especially chillies ranging from habanero to naga chillies... There was also an exhibition of apples, which displayed varieties of apples .

Beautiful gardens, an amazing micro-climate where many flowers thrive that normally would not be found here. We only had 2 hours to walk around, but would have loved to take more time to sit on a bench and look at the stunning views! Even our short stroll allowed us to get to the schloss and church out at the end.... More

It was early fall when we visited, but even so many of the gardens had very nice flowers blooming. The highlight was the Dahlias which were at their peak. I'm not really a big flower person, but these were pretty spectacular. We definitely enjoyed our day wandering all of the gardens. Lots of stuff for kiddos to do here. I... More

This popular destination is a private island and it’s easily accessed by road. Drive to the island and you’ll eventually enter a car park. Don’t panic as the short walk to the island takes you to a ticket booth where £30 buys two entrance tickets and a car park exit token. All pretty easy in retrospect. Thereafter you’ll wander through... More

If you plan a trip to lake constance you must not miss an excursion to the Mainau island. You could spend a whole day in a well designed and colorful garden. Since Mainau Island is so famous, it can get crowded and therefore I recommend to come as early as possible. They are open from dawn to dusk
