So strange, we stayed in the old city and it has a renaissance feel. A quick walk across the bridge and it feels like you just walked into Paris! There is a touristy pedestrian retail mall that is fun to stroll down, and an area that we called restaurant row, we ate at a couple of places and they were... More

From this point you will be able to walk to all attractions Lyon has to offer. Many restaurants and shops nearby. The famous fountain created by Bartholdi is there. He is also the creator of the Statue of Liberty.

The Presqu'ile has everything to offer. It's the centre of the city, and is still small enough to walk everywhere. There are a number of nice squares (Bellcouer etc), and lots of stunning buildings, such as the Hotel de Ville, and the Opera House. There is plenty of restaurants, and loads of good shopping options. It's very well connected to everywhere... More

Presqu'ile has just about everything you need as a local and want as a tourist: - Big box shopping stores mixed with quality boutique stores and hidden high-end shops. - Sunday food market along the Saone with fresh oysters on the half shell & local white wines. - Movies in English (Pathe Bellecour Cinemas), French and just about any language... It's hard to get lost when you have a river on one side and another river on the other side. The Rhone and the Saone. Great shopping, lots of restaurants, many quite good, bars and cafes. The best area to stay in when visiting Lyon.

We're spending a month in Lyon and chose this area specifically because it seems to be the centre of the Lyon universe. So much here! Very good shopping, restaurants, cafes etc. Minutes from the old town and other areas. Subway stop near Place Bellecoyr for easy access to the rest of the city. The architecture is llovely and there are... More

Presquile is the center city action of Lyon. All the protests, parades, activities begin and end somewhere within this section of the city. It is a walkable section with public transportation (metro or tram or bus) connecting every portion. The trendiest shopping is also found here with the designer shops and boutiques serving the shop-loving French. As for night-life, Presqu'ile... More

This area is central to all there is to see in Lyon - a great place to be based. Quite a few hotels, safe area, clean, lots of shopping and lots of very good restaurants. It's not "the" touristy area, but it gets very busy. It's only a 5-10 minute walk to Vieux Lyon. Bellecor Plaza is huge but nothing... More
