Centrally located. Best place for tourists to hang out and stay. Non-stop shopping that covers 100 square blocks. Lots of designer clothes stores. Lots of medium priced eateries. Convenient access to metro, bus lines, trams. If you are only in town for a few days, this is the area to spend most of the time.

The Presqu'ile will keep you coming back. Place Belcourt, Hotel de Ville, the Opera house, the fountains, street performers, and many, many people. This is all in walking distance to old Lyon.

So strange, we stayed in the old city and it has a renaissance feel. A quick walk across the bridge and it feels like you just walked into Paris! There is a touristy pedestrian retail mall that is fun to stroll down, and an area that we called restaurant row, we ate at a couple of places and they were... More

From this point you will be able to walk to all attractions Lyon has to offer. Many restaurants and shops nearby. The famous fountain created by Bartholdi is there. He is also the creator of the Statue of Liberty.

The Presqu'ile has everything to offer. It's the centre of the city, and is still small enough to walk everywhere. There are a number of nice squares (Bellcouer etc), and lots of stunning buildings, such as the Hotel de Ville, and the Opera House. There is plenty of restaurants, and loads of good shopping options. It's very well connected to everywhere... More

It's hard to get lost when you have a river on one side and another river on the other side. The Rhone and the Saone. Great shopping, lots of restaurants, many quite good, bars and cafes. The best area to stay in when visiting Lyon.
