This museum is not very known, and was recommended to us by a friend that lives in Lyon. It was an unique experience: the tell the history of silk, clothes fabrication, design of old pieces of decoration in tissue. A unique one! The only drawback is that most of the explanations are given in french. Could not understand most of... More

We thought that this silk weaving museum would be interesting -- but it wasn't really. They could have done so much more.

More of a silk industry promotion but does contain a number of small interesting historical exhibits on relating to the Lyon silk industry.

At first glance this is a small family run museum, but what brings the experience alive are the Husband and wife owners who really make it worthwhile. Make sure you book a tour before hand, and ask to see some live weaving in their workshop. They truly know the history of the weaving in France, as well as the politics... More

Anyone interested in the history of textiles (or the applications of punched cards) should visit this place. Knowledge of spoken French is a huge plus. We were warned before we purchased tickets that it was a group tour and only brief summaries would be possible in English. There was a one page fact sheet in English that they let us... More

the short guided visit took us to a workshop where the silk weaving process was demonstrated. we then saw a slide presentation. the guide was very informative. afterwards we went on a walking tour of the traboule of the croix rousse. the guide, mr. luc did a great job. to be recommended.

Lyon has once had a huge silk industry but sadly all that remains is this so-called museum which is just two rooms with no information or tours in English and a handful of overpriced silk items for sale. Does not qualify as a museum or must-see in Lyon. Needs somebody with drive, creativity and marketing ambition to make this something... More

Some in our group started talking with the owners, and although there was no demonstration for another hour, they kindly invited us to have a free tour for our group. It was truly amazing, it was easy to see how this is the first programs. The place even has a compiler. So worth it. But you have to take the... More

The exhibition is not big and you have to schedule in a guided tour to get the most out of it. Especially interesting for people interested in silk. They have a good shop with all kinds of silk items.

At 6 euros each this was a bit of a disappointment. Mostly in French Emphasis on the technicalities of silk weaving rather than the silk workers home. Short presentation on the silkworm and history of silk growing
