I had an opportunity to go to an event at the Hotel de Ville and it is as gorgeous inside as it is outside. I love the history and the attention to detail throughout this "city hall". So few places in America take the time and money to look like this. If you have a chance to tour the inside,... More

This was well worth the walk in the rain. The building and plaza in front of it (including the fountain) are spectacular.

Lyon provides some great photo opportunities and this is one that you should take some time to explore what you can see as a photographer.

Beautiful building which we enjoyed from the outside as part of our walk around this stunning city. Very close to Beaux Arts and the fountain in the square.

The Lyon Hotel De Vill is an old building with beatiful state rooms. It is on Presqu'ile between the Soane and Rhone rivers and opposite the Opera house which is also worth a visit. The Lyon Hotel de Ville is a fine city hall, looming imposingly but not overwhelmingly over the nearby surroundings.

Beautiful square where the Hotel de Ville is located. The building is worth the visit, Built by the same architect as Versailles. The fountain outside is fantastic and built by the same architect as the Statue of Liberty.

Don't expect to get a room in this "hotel." This large, imposing town hall overlooks a huge square and a magnificent fountain. There were many people enjoying a stroll around the square in the summer sun. A great public meeting place.

This hôtel-de-ville is truly a fantastic building. However, the adjacent square and surrounding streets leave much to be desired. Far too many homeless people, gypsies, and trash laying around. Somewhat disappointing, really.

You can come and sit here at one of the brassiers and watch people walk by and time fly while sipping a glass of wine. It has huge sculptures of horses/fountains.
