Very nice place, the historic rooms are very impressive and we understood why it is known as the most beautiful Hôtel de Ville in France. Visits are saturday only and have to be booked at the tourist information

This is a magnificent site. It is hard to take it all in but definitely worth a stop for a photo. It is a commanding presence. I saw a photo in a museum of a Nazi flag handing outside during World War II and it gave me chills to think of the Nazis taking over this building.

We thought it was a city hall like we have at home but as soon as we walked in , the guide started to explain room by room in such details, so actually we were very impressed by what we were seeing. It was like visiting a museum and our guide was very knowledgeable which made our visit even more interesting.... We visited the place a number of time during normal days as well as during Fete Des Lumieres in December. Also had the change to visit the inside and it was beautifully decorated. It has high ceilings and lots of emblems of important families in Lyon. The visit during the Fete Des Lumieres is a must, but be aware that... More

What a magnificent Barocco style building with all the extreme artistic extravagance we expect from the French of that period. The square is lovely and especially on a warm balmy summers evening. Of particular note is the incredible fountain of charging marble horses that breath steam from their nostals. It sounds kitch but it is absolutely fabulous and especially at... More

Beautiful 17th century Hotel de Ville designed by architect Simon Maupin dominates Place des Terreaux. We happened to stop at Place des Terreaux several times over our three days stay in Lyon and admire its lavishly decorated facade with remarkable baroque painted stucco details. One more site that makes you "addicted to Lyon".
