We found our visit very interesting and emotional. It was interesting to hear the effect of living in an occupied country had on the population from the youngest to more mature persons. School parties being taken round and taught the history of their country. English booklet available, also offered audio. English translation choice available at the exhibits where residents spoke... Having heard so much about the French Resistance during WWII, we were really interested to learn more at this Museum. It was a disappointment. The personnel are very helpful and attentive, one gentleman even going so far as to find us before the start of a 45" video because he knew we would not understand the French broadcast. Very kind.... The Resistance museum Is located in the former Gestapo headquarters in Lyon. Entry was €7. The museum is on two levels with an area which has been a mock up of Lyon during the Nazi occupation. The displays are in French only however a well detailed booklet is provided for English speakers and which is comprehensive. The museum lacks original... More

There was far too much reading and not enough films, photos or memorabilia to depict the text. There are better museums demonstrating the subject matter than this

As a museum, there's too much text on the walls. As an evocation of the city's survival (and some citizens' survival) through WW2, it's heart-breaking. Lots of extremely moving video material, and some important historical documentary. Skip the conducted tours, and take it at your own pace. Public transport access is easy.

They must have updated their English translations since Corinne O and Geoviki went. My friend and I read the reviews online saying it wasn't very Anglophone friendly, but opted to check it out anyway even though neither of us speak much French. We went yesterday (Feb. 13, 2013), and when we arrived they provided us with a Visitors Guide booklet... More

We visited the second day of its reopening in Nov. 2012. I understand that they used to have English explanations and audio guides, but no longer. Like Corinne O says, there's almost nothing in English now. There are a few headphones with translations of German interviews, people who lived through the experiences, but each station has a single headset. If... More

Just been renovated but VERY disappointed as very little information in English. Most of the information in English was experiences of of young people being abducted by the Germans and we didn't get to know about the resistance movement.

A fascinating display that took us back in time to the days when French citizens fought for their liberty in their own country and which in turn created numerous opportunities for heroism. The history of France is studded with the acts of heroism of its citizens, from the Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars dedicated by the Arc de Triomphe, the... More

Great displays and english stories available. While not sure what to expect, found the stories and the setting out of the displays as taking our time to browse. Students and adults were present the day we attended. For a restrospective feel and look into a historical period, recommended for those who have a taste for an insight into a period... More
