We just walked through the old town and found some stairs...so UP we went..and up and up! Loved it but you do need some fitness. At the top the cafe/gift shop was closed as it was Sunday afternoon. We didn't care as the view was beautiful and we found the funicular which was 1.80 euro and actually connected us to... More

Get here by one of the two fuiniculars departing from the old town. The €5.50 day pass works on both funiculars. At the top look out over the roof tops of old Lyon, and descend to the Roman remains. The amphitheatre looks restored but none the less looks very grand

Arrive early, and enjoy the views before the busses arrive! Lovely anyway, free too, just buy a ticket on funicular for about E1.80ea single trip

We took the funicular up, admired the view (and the basilica briefly, not really my thing, though the lions on the doors were pretty impressive). The view is definitely worth the trip up. By the basilica/square there's a small average souvenir shop, there's a cafe but it was closed, and a vending machine that was out of order. Make sure... More

This is an outstanding view point and even if you did nothing else while you were up there it would be worth it. There are lots of old streets and stairways if you are up for the climb from the old town. You would need to be moderately fit though and you will sweat a bit if the weather is... More

We saw this as part of Lyon Card guided tour. It was our first stop, and I don't know how it can be appreciated without a guide. Scenery was OK, certainly no major landmarks ( except the Pencil ) that is breathtaking. Basilica and ruins are what makes this an attraction, do not miss those.

Worth the €1.80 to take the funiculaire up, the views are nice on a clear day and an easy walk back into town. Give yourself one and a half hours for the round trip, lots of nice terrace bars fit a cold beer when you get Back down

Breathtaking! Take the funicular to the top, but enjoy the scenic walk back down the hill, basilica is beautiful and views are great, definitely worth it

Plus a gorgeous basilica. A place to view the city and the rivers below. Climb if you can but steep incline. Enjoy a coffee at the restaurants there.
