We didn't walk up the hill but took the funiculaire. the church has nice gold mosaics. The mythical bird sculptures on the pillars in the church were unusual. I can't remember seeing them any where else. Check them out. Then - you must do this ok - walk over in 1 min to Restaurant de Fourviere ( yes at the... More

If you visit the cathedral / Roman remains, then take the gentle walk back down to Old Lyon through the park. Peaceful and reflective.

It is a wonderful walk through small cobblestone streets. Once you reach the top walk through the gates of the park to see the amazing view. Walk to the opposite side of the children's playground and through the gate to see the views.

This is more than just a view. Located on Fourviere Hill are Roman Ruins and the La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière. The view was great even though it was very hazy the day we were there.

You get to see the entire city with the river flowing right through the center. Landscape photographs with a hires DSLR will turn up with some great photographs with a great level of detail. The church where this viewpoint is seen is beautiful too. A new age architecture but with some detailed work on the walls.

I've actually started a walk from the bottom of the hill (around Pont Kitchiner) and walked up to Church St Irenee. From there, around St Just, you can take the "funiculaire" and stop at the Roman Ruins, before heading to the Basilica.

Most athletes climb the Fourvière hill to look at Lyon from the Basilica, a symbolic site of the tradition on 8 December. An alternative for the less physically fit is to take the funicular that connects the Old Lyon Fourvière from the base of Vieux Lyon to the top of the hill.

GREAT WAY TO SPEND 30 to 60 MINUTES! This is the best place from which you can see the city of Lyon. You can see both rivers, and all of the attractions, buildings, hotels, locations, etc. It is located on top of a hill next to a Basilique, and it is FREE! There are also viewing telescopes you can use,... More

The park itself is free and open to the public. You can amble among the ruins as you please! The view is also excellent, and you can see the basilica from here, as well as the city, so it might be better than the view from the basilica. They don't have many signs telling you what you are looking at,... More
