While in Lyon, one of my favorite cities in France, you must venture UP to Lyon's Hill of Prayer. From here you will have stunning views of the city and the two Rivers that meet- Rhone and Saone. Lyon has so much to offer, don' t miss the paintings on the walls of the buildings depicting famous French people and... More

I walked here from Place Bellecour one morning. The views after arriving at the the top were stunning and well worth the effort of a little exercise. The walk also had the extra benefit of side-trips to other nearby venues including Theatres Romains de Fourviere, an amazing old Roman theatre where they still hold events today. Really this is work... More

A tough walk but rewarding by the cityscape views and a garden half way up to picnic in. Well worth the effort.

Use the funicular - you will be there in no time. View of the city is beautiful. I would say that it was one of the most beautiful experiences in Lyon.

The best view over Lyon. Looks over the rooftops of the Old City, the river and beyond to the newer city. You can get the funicular (cable car) up the hill and walk back down through the garden after viewing the roman ruins and the cathedral.

If you are about to visit Lyon, you cannot miss fourviere. When you are in Lyon, you literally cannot miss fourviere and la Basilique. It literally dominates the city. A quick trip up the funiculaire known to locals as the string or "ficelle" (1.80 euro) and you are there. The views are beyond stunning as is La Basilique built by... More

This was a wonderful experience. We took the funicular to the top of the hill and then walked down into vieux (old) Lyon. The views are spectacular along the route are simply stunning - if you have a telephoto lens on your camera, worth using. Some parts are very steep steps but nothing too difficult.

We took the funicular up and found this to be the best view of Lyon! The Basilque Notre-Dame de Fourviere is stunning. It has beautiful mosaics! Don't miss it!

The whole fun was to walk up to Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere and then to walk down to the Veiux Lyon. It is a rigorous walk up, but the views along the way are worth the effort. I loved the panorama from the Rose Garden terrace the most and the garden itself is so lovely. Do not miss visiting... More
