The views from the top of the hill are brilliant, the whole of Lyon and it's surrounding are in front of you. It is definitely one of the best things to do while in Lyon. Also, while up at Fourviere, you can visit the Cathedral and the Roman amphitheaters. The walk up the road is steep, so it's a good... More

The hike up was a little tough but the view was worth it! It was a tough walk but with all the restaurants it made it worth it to work off all the great food!

We took the funicular up and the stairs down. Our Australian relatives took the stairs both ways. Enjoyable walk down, through trees etc. The view from the top is magnificent. We were there on a particularly blustering and chilly day, so didn't linger. Will go back if weather and time permits and look around a bit more. All I can... More

If you like walking, this is worth it. We walked along the River Saon and then up the hill. I believe there is public transport but we did not use it. Fabulous view, historic areas and the interesting traboules. A good walk down through a different area of Lyon.

As the title says, take the Funicular up and walk down. Or if you're an unnatural sort of bragadocious fitness bore, take the stairs both ways. Whatever. I don't care! Either way, it's a lovely trip up. Dare I say a FUN(icular) trip up? And walking down some of the old stairway paths is beautiful too! Many a pretty photo... More

Ride the funicular up to the top of the hill to start your lesson in Gallic history transitioning to your investigation to the Notre Dame Basilique to the Roman Ruins working your way down the hill to St. Jean Place. Treat yourself to the best ice cream/gelato in Lyon by ending your history lesson at Place du Change and Nardone... More
