Great place to go to find all sorts of attractions and restaurants in a small area

Loved this place because even though we had no idea of where we were going, you could just walk around and find cool attractions and great restaurants

A real trip back in time to see how things looked (minus all the tourist shops and pizza places). But the going is tough if you are not so mobile on your feet. Old cobblestones and hills. But it's worth it.

Stayed in an apart-hotel right on Rue Saint-Jean and loved it. You're right in the heart of this ancient district with shops and restaurants and museums all around. No need for a car (no where to park anyway) and you can walk almost anywhere. Rue Saint-Jean is the main tourist street but the walking tours, etc attest to its importance... More

We stayed in Vieux Lyon while visiting the city so we felt very lucky to be in what is surely the most beautiful part of the city. We spent hours wandering the cobbled streets - lively by day and night. Absolutely do not miss this part of the city...easy to spend a day, (or two or three if you want... More

Superb area in the city, full of (touristic) shops, nice little cafés and bars, and beautiful renaissance buildings. Great place to hang out!

Vieux Lyon is fun to walk through, and especially photogenic if photography is your hobby. Narrow streets lead to a large plaza and an array of restaurants ranging from the traditional Lyonnais Bouchon to others where one will find a variety of menus to suit every taste. One visit should suffice. Expect it to be crowded with tourists and shops... More

Our hotel was in the old town so we could easily visit the neighborhood almost every day. Old buildings dating from the Renaissance still functioning is a good reason to visit Lyon. The small souvenir shops were lovely.

Very popular: there were two packed guided tours at the same time. Learned a lot about the fascinating history of the place, for instance how rich italian families came to settle in Lyon, why the buildings are so high, and the point of those private passages (traboules) that were so useful to the Resistance.

If you would like to admire the aithentic, old a chitzcture, jus place is great to walk around! There are also lots of bars and restaurants, souvenir shops...everything you'd expect to see in the most visited part of the city! But if you like calm and quiet, you should rather visit it early on a sunday morning
