When you visit Lyon, this is a recommended place to visit because its full of fun and activities. The Rhone river separated the city into old and new town and if you have time, it will be great if you can explore these 2 towns and will find a great contrast among them. The old town, as its name applied,... More

There is a great deal to see here so plan to spend at least half a day wandering around its cobble stone streets ( excluding lunch ). Take a good map and discover its traboules, cafes, bouchons ,some very good patisseries and interesting little shops. There are museums , the Cathedral with its pretty square and Eglise St Georges whihc... More

Start at Place Bellecour, in the middle of the Presq'ile. Find the Tourist Office and rely on their service - it is not only fast. polite, efficient, but also provides interesting programs. Grab a Lyon űCity Card which provides free public transport and free or reduced price entry to attractions. Join the guided tours. To mention just a few, I... More

Don't miss out on visiting vieux Lyon. About 30 years ago it was going to the dogs, but now it has been given lots of attention and you can see such magnificent old buildings there. Don't miss the traboule (tunnels going between streets) and pop into Cours des Loges 5 star hotel to see what a sensitive job they have... More

An amazing area of Lyon, although some areas are almost as if they are deserted completely, with shops empty and gone. At times it felt like we were the only people in the areas. The city could do more to liven up this area and bring back shops to bring life back to it.

The old city of Lyon is a great place to wander around. There's plenty to see, and lots of character and history. There are many places to eat here, although many are quite 'touristy', so do some 'window shopping' first. Easy to spend a day here.

A very good advice to those who planned to visit this old town when you are in the Bellcour square is to have a feel of the directions that you would take. It is a very short distance and is approx 500 meters from the Tourist Information office in Bellcour. I made a mistake and discovered even more interesting events... More

Old Lyon is compact and not as initially striking as its UNESCO World Heritage Site status might suggest. It's an intact old town with narrow streets and period buildings. Views down towards the river are especially good. Lyon is a sprawling city and you'd be well advised to stay in the old town close to the river or on the... More

I really enjoyed this traditional part of the town- it is also the only place which is not dead on a Sunday. The minature museum in this part of the town is also worth a visit. Be weary of eating in the traditional 'buchons' in this part of town.
