The view, especially on a sunny and clear day like today is gorgeous! Mountains painting the skyline with snow capped white. The lovely ville of Grenoble and scenic river valley are breathtaking. Whether you walk up for free or ride up, it is worth your time. I went further up the mountain toward the castle ruins on the peak, so... More

Tranquil spot overlooking the city and mountain. I've been here in different seasons and it still breathtaking! Well worth visiting.

Supreme vantage point. Walk up this monument perched on a hill in under an hour and take in the sights. Boulevard Jean Jaures running the length of the city away from you and meeting the mighty alps in the distance. Mont Blanc on the distant horizon with a veil of snow that might be blowing across if the sunlight falls... More

I decided to do the walk up to the Bastille rather than take the cable car . It's a good walk up with plenty of places along the way to take in the views . Allow around an hour to go up . There's a restaurant and cafe at the top and more opportunities to take in the breathtaking views... More

Well worth a visit to round off your trip. The journey in the cable car was excellent as well. Make sure you are wearing comfy shoes.

Having lived in Grenoble for a year and a half back in 2009, La Bastille is one place I don't miss each time I go back to this lovely city! You can walk, run, bike or take 'les boules' to go up. Walking is most fun as you can go up and come down by different paths. On the top... More

We stopped in Grenoble to take a rest break on our long drive down to the Pyrenees. Thanks to a quick consultation with Tripadvisor, we spent a great couple of hours up at the Bastille. The kids loved the relatively short but steep cable car journey up, over the river. Some great walks, a small but interesting exhibit about French... More

A very old monument at Grenoble. Use the Téléphérique to reach it, and enjoy the great view of Grenoble whiling going up and down. Great place to walk, after the visit, have lunch at the restaurant up there. A must visit when you go to Grenoble

Numerous visits and we are still peeling back the layers of this wonderful city. Take plenty of time to explore its treasures - you won't be disappointed. Let the photos inspire you to take the funicular to the Bastille. The small cable car pods seat six and it's like being squeezed into a sardine can. However, it's worth the discomfort... More
