I'm terrified of heights, so the funicular ride to the top was a little tense for me. On the way back down, a little girl kept saying the word "tomber" to her mother so she, too, was afraid of the darned thing falling! It made me laugh that I was as scared as the three-year old. The view from the... More

You can take the cable car from alongside the river up to the Bastille or walk up the hill. We chose the cable car as the tickets were included in the room rate at our hotel. From the top of the Bastille, there are excellent views over the city of Grenoble.

If you have time to spare and like cable rides this is for you. I like the cable ride the view from the top was super but there was nothing else there besides and overpriced cafe and a souvenir shop.

Grenoble is not as nice as when seen from above. For few euros you will enjoy an awesome scenery of all surrounding mountains as well as the city districts. We could not enjoy The musuem on top, but we were told it ia worth doing. Give it a try next time...

Lived close for an year and was there multiple times. Gives a great view of the city and the alps. Makes more sense to visit in summers for parties.

If you want a great view, the Bastille is definitely the place to go! See the beautiful mountains of the Rhône Alpes, from the best place; the Bastille.

We got a discount from our hotel, and walked to the station, located a few hundred meters from our hotel at the river. After a few minutes you are walking around at the Bastille overlooking a wide panorama with a... More
