The Vercors have quickly become our favourite vacation! There is SO much to do here, discover caves: La Grotte de la Coranche, La Grotte de la Luir, take a gondola up to Cote 2000 in Balcon de Villard and hike up the rest of the way to the top of the mountain. Be sure to pull over and take some... More

The Vercors offers first scenic roads (Col du Rousset, Combe Laval) to access it. Then, from West to East quiet forests and high pastures give place to a semi-desertic high and wind swept plateau, ending in vertical cliffs. To cross it North to South by foot (from Lans en Vercors to Col du Rousset) requires physical preparation, time, suitable outdoor... More

If you are in the area you should make time to drive around the winding roads and take in the magnificent views.

I asked the Maison de la Montagne in Grenoble for advice, and they were extremely helpful! They suggested I take the bus from Grenoble Gares to St. Nizier, and follow the route GR91 to the summit of Le Moucherotte. From there I could walk on Lans-en-Vercors. For me it was absolutely the perfect trip. Hiking up to Le Moucherotte was... More

Oh, don't miss this. If you have a car, drive around and hike around. If you don't have a car, take the bus from the Gare Routiere (train/bus station) to Lans-en-Vercors, get down at the Maison du Tourisme (Tourist Information Center) and ask for hikes -- that's what I did. I did the hike that went via Les Barnets through... More

We stayed at a friend's condominium in Villard-de-Lans. The hiking was wonderful. Marvelous alpine trails through varied landscapes of the Parc Naturel Regional du Vercors. We did an amazing hike to the Valchevriere, an ancient village now in ruins. The hike was amazing and the reward was to enter the renovated chapel and take in the peaceful atmosphere. This region... I have lived in Grenoble since 2010. The Vercors, stretching 100 km south from the city, has been my favorite mountain range (among others such as Belledonne and Chartreuse) due to its accessibility and variety. You can find almost everything in the range that is also a classified regional nature park: Steep cliffs, rocky slopes, high plateaus, alpine meadows, rolling... More

Take the backroads into this alp region and enjoy the view! Easy access from Grenoble. Lots of small villages but also a lot of empty country. Ideal for a bicycle tour, too.

So much to see in this maze of twisting climbing roads. The views are unforgettable and the driving exhilarating. Loved the stunning views from high points and the roads thru some of the gorges (D531 in particular) were incredible with the roadway cut under the mountain in spots and at times little room for more than one car to pass... The scenery is simply stunning, charming little villages along the way. Start drive through sassenage, lunch in villard de lans and be sure to make time for the cave near choranche. DEFINITELY do not miss the artisan ice cream shop - tiny, on the corner of a little parking area in pont en royans
