We found the hike up from La Flégère pretty hard-going but the views along the way were stunning and what was waiting for us was absolutely amazing. It was busier than we expected as a lot of people had taken the easy stroll down from the Index chairlift but it was really rewarding for us having hiked up. There are... More

Lac Blanc is a very popular hike on the "Aiguiles Rouge" (south) side of the Chamonix Valley. It is almost always done by the use of the La Flegere cable car. You have then two options. One is to walk from the top station of the cable car to Lac Blanc (allow 1.30 to 2 hours) with an altitude difference... More

The views on the other side are a natural wonder because you can see the mont blanc and glacier right to the top.

It's certainly worth going to this spot. Little effort though you have to make to get here but in a good weather wow it's beautiful.

There was still parts of the lake frozen, even in June, but the setting is wonderful, and there is a very nice restaurant overlooking the lake.

I believe I hiked here via La Flegere and some ladders - tough hike, but beauitiful spot....and that was in a foggy situation! I've seen pictures of the views from here and would have been very disappointed, but I was on my last or second to last day of completing the Tour de Mont Blanc hike so I had seen... More

The trail is great and you can see some animals if you look around. The refuge is beautiful and you can eat there, we took a soup because it was cold a little bit and it was good. It took us about 4.5 hours and I recommand it.

Walked from La Flegere to Lac Blanc and followed the red track. A bit more vertical and climbing than expected but well worth it. The Refuge restaurant served us an excellent meal out on the terrace with the lake view. When returning to La Flegere we went the lower yellow track which started a bit seep with steel ladders but... Well worth the walk - depending from which direction you arrive, it can be gentle - or rather challenging (with ladders!!). But worth the visit

The hike to lac blanc is really good and the lakes, and the scenery are beautiful. We hiked from the top of the first lift. It was a 1250 foot verticle rise which in the altitude was a bit strenuos for a guy over 60 like me. If I went again I would choose to hike from the top of... More
