Hiked from Index ski station, around 75 minutes on mostly easy paths though quite undulating. The lake itself is stunning, from every angle - even went swimming (briefly!), astonishingly cold! Food and drinks available from cafe, though no sandwiches, also basic toilets. Location is simply heavenly, could spend hours and hours there, magnificent views towards Aiguille Vert and Les Drus.... We trekked the TMB in summer 2013 but wanted to go back to Lac Blanc to enjoy it better than just staying overnight at the refuge during our trek. The views are absolutely amazing! If you are not planning on going back down the same way as you went up, make sure you turn around every so often to admire... More

Harder to climb at elevation than anticipated but well worth the journey. Lake extremely cold but fun for adventurous types to jump in and out of quickly. Nice but limited services at top. Incredible views!!!

We took a bus from Chamonix to Les Praz. The bust stop was right beside the gondola Flegere. We too the gondola up and then got on the ski lift Index. We hiked from the ski lift to Lac Blanc and back the same way. The hike was about 1 hour 15 min. to 1 hour 30 minutes each way.... More

We hiked up the Lac Blanc from the midway point of La Flegere lift and took aroud 5-6 hours round trip including spending some time at the lake. Its impossible to not stop at every switchback turn during the hike to appreciate the magnificent views of Mt blanc and the glaciers around it which are your constant companion all along... More

It might be a bit tiring to get there for people who are not fit but it is worth the pain and effort. The view is beautiful.

We engaged Happy Tracks Chamonix to plan and guide us on a 2 days 1 night hike around Chamonix. Lac Blanc was something we wanted to see and photograph (based on the photos we've seen), and specifically either at sunrise or sunset. And our guide Anja worked it into our route seamlessly. We took the ladders path up from Argentiere... More

We did a hike all the way from Col de Montets to Lac Blanc which took approximately 5.5 hours round trip. It was steep in the beginning but once we gained some elevation, had epic views along the rest of the route. It was well worth the long hike and Lac Blanc is an absolutely beautiful setting to behold!

The best thing to do is ride up to the top and hike down to the Lac and then down again. Bring a lunch and just sit and enjoy the Lac. There is food up at the top.
