Take the cable car from the side of the golf club and enjoy the wonderful views. Take a breather at the top and have a bite to eat or a drink at the little shop, enjoy the sun in the deckchairs provided and then enjoy the numerous walks that are well signposted.

The positive is that it gets you to where you want to be, which is a place with glorious views across to Mont Blanc and some great hiking trails. The rest is quite a painful experience. The queues at the ticket office are long and not at all well-managed. They would let various people push in the queue for whatever... More

Unfirtunately even if they have changed recently the cable car that takes you to ski up in Flegere domain, the cable car is not big enough to avoid the long queue that starts right after the first ride! It also should open before especially in spring when the snow starts to get soft early in the morning.Better to go up to... More

Chamonix = a wonderful winter place and hiker's paradise in spring/summer. BUT: We queued for c 50 minutes to get the telecabine from town to Flegere and thereafter lined up at the various lift options at the top. I agree with other commentators. Surely the logisticians of Chamonix can realize that the paying public (€230 for a 6-day pass =... More

Very long queues we waited for over 1 hour we had to walk up steps carrying skis and poles and wearing ski boots whilst waiting around in the cold for the next cable car to arrive.

Avoid this lift. If Les Nantes piste is open (sufficient snow) you can ski down to the Flegere car park - it's a black run but it's it's not hard, just a bit narrow. Otherwise favour the Plan Praz lift down from Brevant which is linked to Flegere via the Liaison cable car. Flegere lift is a disaster when it's... More

Flegere is amazing. Great ski runs (longest beginner section) and lovely hikes in summer. It's a pity the cable is so old. It gives great views of aiguille du midi and Mont Blanc on a sunny day but horribly cold when not. You can't sit down, and in winter there can be long ques. Rumour is that they won't develop... None of the cable cars are that cheap - this one was €15 per person (although our dog travelled free which was a nice touch) for a return trip. We actually opted to walk back, and it was quite a long way (about 2 hours with aching limbs). fantastic views from the top and a stepping stone for other higher... More

Great way to reach the top. We used this lift to get us back down following our walk to Lac Blanc - saves the aching knees

We spent a week in Chamonix and this was my favourite thing. Why? If you have a Multipass you don't have to queue, the cablecar is smooth and scenic and then you arrive at a beautiful spot with a new Alpine Garden under development (if well received they will develop it further and make it bigger and better in future...
