Chamonix is an iconic alpine town full of outdoor enthusiasts. There is loads to do summer or winter and the town has a good buzz for your après-whatever! It is popular and accommodation can be expensive. If you want to combine an activity holiday with a lively town-stay with lots of shops, bars and restaurants then this place is ideal.... More

Nice and Cozy town and friendly people especially Hôtel la Source at 10 Route du Bouchet, I've got a nice and warm welcome from owner. Take a train to visit Mer de Glace is a must!

The day I visited mont blanc + chamonix was on a poor weather condition. Chamonix was showering and lot of snow up in the mountain (really white out). No view of italian/french/swiss mountains on that day. Temperature can be pretty cold (-8c) , for visitors from warm climate (eg africa, australia, india) can be somewhat very cold - Ears and... Very much enjoyed the cable car ride over mont blanc. We did the first 2 legs and it was the highlight of our trip. We also enjoyed the luge ride and stayed at the hostel in Chamonix. It was one of our favorite hostels in Europe.

If you have never been to this part of the world then try s few days, if you are a 'towny' and s few weeks if you are into the walking/rambling/cycling scene. The whole area and people are lovely all year round. Watty

We came in May so it seems to be less busy than I expected (which was nice) so we didn't wait long for the Aiguille du Midi cable car or at any restaurants. Has a relaxed atmosphere throughout with simply stunning views and old... More

Pleasant relaxed atmosphere but still has a buzz, guess in ski season it truly comes alive. But even in October still worth walking through stopping for food and drink.

Came here on holiday, ended up moving here :) Still not tired of the insanely epic views of both sides of the mountains from this gorgeous valley town. Great boarding in winter, beautiful hikes in the warm summers. Please if you are travelling here, use your car as little as possible- stick to the free buses and trains or hire... More

Take the cable car up and up and up to the top of Europe for an amazing experience. See the Alps from the top of the Alps.
