Beautiful little town and can have an week off you wandering around in the Alps- or lazying around in the cable cars or gondolas. Lots of restaurants to have variety of options. Definitely going back again to have a little more of trekking. The one to Lac Blanc was simply breathtaking.

Beautiful scenery. It is worth the drive. I didn't get a chance to hike and that was the only bad part.

Mer de Glacé was a great family excursion. The kids had so much fun at the glacier cave! It is a 400 step journey ( easier on the way there than back) , but what an experience! Make sure to see a glacier museum on top. We also wanted to take a ride to Aiguille du Midi, but it was... More

chamonix is a great destination to see the best the French Alps have to offer in terms of scenery, while taking in some mountain sports. With Mt Blanc glistening up above, the valley slopes offer fantastic hiking at all levels, and awesome skiing in winter.

Very enjoyable shopping streets, loads of attractive restaurants if a bit cheese orientated! We saw some unbelievable quantities of cheese being consumed in the form of raclette Savoyarde. Other dishes are readily. available.y

Obviously a to do here. If you want to eat at the restaurant at the summit you need reservations ( we didn't have one). Make sure you bring jacket as it gets cold at the top. Stunning views.

Love Chamonix. It is great for winter and summer holidays. skiing is awesome. even if the snow is not great in Chamonix one week or day, you can easily drive to Switzerland or Italy where the weather changes quite a lot so there is always good snow around

The hike to Mt Lac Blanc is well worth the effort but harder than expected due to altitude and heat. Take a quick dip in the lake if you are brave. It's very exhilarating. The Aiguille du Midi was beautiful (we had warm weather and clear blue skies so were very lucky). Watching the climbers at the top was spectacular.... More
