This is one of the attraction worth a visit but don't expect much once inside as it does not have anything groundbreaking. It's a pleasant tour that can be completed inside an hour and it is very central to Annecy anyway. The old town is more interesting than this.

This is the place to visit if interested in the views of the old city. It also has interesting exhibitions related to the lake of Annecy

I travelled here for the day from Geneva - the sites and flavours of Annecy are best enjoyed with a little more time than I had to spare. The lake is beautiful, the shops are quaint and intriguing, the cafes and food are alluring, and the chateau is a wonderul sight for someone who had dreamed of castles and cathedrals... More

The chateau is a huge beautiful building that I would love to have seen more of, but it now houses the art gallery. While it is a cool venue for a gallery, the screens erected to carry the art, hide the architecture. Modern art in that old beauty seemed out of place to me. There was a bit of period... More

Granted, there isn't too much of the interior to freely see, but the views offered of Lake Annecy, the city itself, and the mountains to the south as as picturesque as one could ask for.

Since Annecy is rather small, especially the old town, to visit the castle and the museum is kind of a must. Interesting, to be admitted, however do not expect the best castle ever, or you will be disappointed. Rather expect something to complete your visit to Annecy, the lake, and the area.

Hard to know how to review this chateau. Unlike many other European buildings of this kind, the Chateau d'Annecy has a long history of additions and modifications, so you won't necessarily get that 'wow' feeling that many others will provide. Having said that, it is interesting nevertheless with permanent and temporary exhibitions providing some focus for visitors along with a... More

I have already written about what goes on inside the castle in my review of its museum. I was told to go for the views, but while there are a few, there are not as many as expected. Due to the nature of the exhibit in the museum almost all windows in the rooms of the castle are blocked off.... More

The Chateau was hosting an amazing exhibit on the groundbreaking animation of Alexandre Alexeiff. While very old-fashioned in today's CGI-laden films, it is easy to appreciate the animators' innovation and painstaking eye for detail. And of course the Chateau itself is an amazing building in its own right. Worth seeing.
