Brilliant museum with varied exhibitions both permanent and temporary. When we visited there was an fabulous ornithological exhibition which we found fascinating. Very well presented indeed. The chateau itself is a fantastic building and the permanent displays of art, furniture and other objects from times gone by are really well presented and very interesting.

It was nice to visit the castle and the town was pretty but the chateau itself was not that memorable. If you are in Annecy, do the tour, but don't go there just for the castle.

The chateau is large and very impressive. When I visited, there were several exhibitions, including a permanent multi-level presentation on the history of Annecy and its lake. The standout, though, was a contemporary art exhibition in several of the chateau's rooms - really well-presented.

This castle was a citadel, so inside the chateau there is no nice furniture, no nice decor or paintings on the walls. It is just cold, grey stone. Nevertheless it is still interesting to see. They have filled the rooms with paintings and contemporary art. The second building was a lot more interesting, in my opinion. It houses a museum... More

Loved the current photo collection along with the beautiful furnishings. The views of the lake from here are spectacular.

Like: Walk to the end and you will see a beautiful view of Annecy. That view gave it one more point, else it's only 3 out of 5. Dislike: Exhibition was alright only. Closed for 2 hours during lunch and close at 5pm. Make sure you go at the right time.

This medieval town is well worth the visit. It is a little jewel and it was wonderful to walk around and experience the life in this French town. The old part has maintained its medieval feel and the castle overlook it all. The steep up hill walk from the old town to the castle is fun and does not take... More

Big display on the lake and fishing. Another on local history. Some art. There is a view of the town from the terrace but you can't see much of the lake.

This shows a mixture of temporary exhibitions and permanent collections, all housed in parts of the Chateau. I think it would be better for French speakers - although some exhibits had English translations, a lot did not. The modern art collection was not what I expected to find in a Chateau museum. It was ok. The exhibits of older furniture... More

The buildings contain a museum with exhibits on old furniture, art work and marine biology as well as temporary exhibitions. The exhibits are skippable, but the view from the terrace of the chateau, which overlooks the lake and the city, is beautiful. Unfortunately, you have to buy admission to the museum in order to gain access to the terrace.
