From photographer perspective, the old town of Annecy is like a hunting ground. Palaise de I'lle is arguably one of the most photograph architecture there. It's a bit dull during the day, especially during the cloudy day. But if you wait for the blue hour, just after the sun set, that's when the magic happen. Don't forget your tripod!

It was exactly as pictured in every photo ever taken of Annecy. There were so many tourists wandering about, wondering if there should be more to see.

Of course, it is a great photo opportunity from the outside. We chose to go inside for to see the building internals, not for the art exhibit. If we had gone in for the art I would have been disappointed, but loved seeing the insides of the 'prison'.

The architecture was interesting and different. Also the self guided tour gives you a slice of the history of Annecy. there are pictures of Annecy through the ages, with descriptions of the industries that supported the town. Prepare to be surprised!

We paid a reduced rate because we booked for this venue and the Chateau together. The exhibition in the Palaise de L'ille was interesting, however, it would have much ,more interesting if English was used to

Charming little castle surrounded by rivers with ducks and swans, loads of flowers for decoration, small shops and restaurants serving local food. Very nice.

This is one of those attractions that just make you want to photograph it over and over. It changes according to the time of day and angle from which you shoot it. My favourite time was night. It takes on this really mysterious atmosphere. The bridge and flower plantings are really pretty and the cafés are so inviting. A visit... More

Beautiful and much photographed on the outside, make sure you take the time to look inside too. The cool walls make a welcome despite from the midday sun and it's pretty fascinating too.
