We didn't have a lot of time in Marseilles. We figured this would be a great way to see the city. Looking back, even if we had a lot of time in Marseilles, we would still do this tour! It allowed us to see all of the major sites as well as places that tourists don't see as much of (let alone have an opportunity to learn the history). The E-Bikes made the trip very easy. Even with the large climb to Notren Dame, the biking was very simple as a result of the assist. The bikes are easy to operate and required very little instruction. Our tour guide was Lionel. He was fantastic! He told us about the history of each site we had seen. He had a great sense of humor and was very helpful! We did the Fada tour. The tour allows you to go into each site which was a bonus since we had thought we'd just see the outside. This tour lasted a little more than four hours. It was the perfect amount of time. We didn't feel rushed and we got to see a lot. I would highly recommend the Fada tour with E-Bike tours!

If you only have one day in this wonderful city, this is your ONLY option......

We had a group of 12 from one of the cruise ships that wee booked ourselves. Time was our biggest concern because of the ship. The majority of the group wanted to do the short 4 hour tour but we were gladly convinced to do the proper 6 hour tour (with lunch and many breaks). Folks, let me tell you, it was the highlight of our Mediterranean trip. Everyone of our group agrees.

If you like dealing with a family business, personal people, and a local passionate knowledge of this historic city, you have come to the right place. Don't waste your time looking for something better to do.

Our guide, Cindy, arrive a bit late but then extended our tour so it turned out well. The bikes were great for powering us through hills but you do have to exert a bit of effort on some areas, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a bit of Marseille that one wouldn't see on a bus or other type of vehicular tour. Thanks Cindy!

Touring by ebike definitely allows our tourists to discover parts of Marseille that you could never see by bus! We are happy you enjoyed your time on your Fada bike tour. Thanks for the review :)

The only good thing about this tour was our guide Adrian. The rest was awful. First of all you get very little training on the bikes. Second, they don't tell you but there are no bike lanes in Marseille so you are riding in between parked cars and moving cars. Thirdly there should be a guide in front and in back because it's easy to get separated from your guide. Lastly an very unpleasant interaction with the owner left me glad when it was all over.

Dear Kimberly, We are so sorry to hear you had a "horid " time with us. First of all, on our tour description, it is well written that you are supposed to know how to ride a bike and if you do, you really don't need a long training. Second, it is also written on "important information" that there is very few bike lanes in Marseille and our route is made on roads open to traffic. Thirdly, I am very surprise to hear that you think we need 2 guides for 6 people on a bike tour ! I guess, I need to remind you that you started the tour saying that you had to much to drink the night before and you really did not want to do the tour. Adrian showed a great amount of patience with you but you did not stop complaining and were unpleasant during the whole tour. Lastly, you mention a very unpleasant interaction with the owner. Could it be because you were rude to him after he nicely accepted to drive you back to your ship when you decided you wanted to stop ? To then, write this review to harm us, when we are a small company, tells people more about your character and your values than anything else. Hélène Szabo Darley Co owner

BEWARE if you take this tour...as there are no bike trails in Marseille and you are riding on city streets among buses, cars and trucks. You really can't enjoy the scenery, as you constantly have to be looking out for traffic. Additionally, although our tour guide (Danielle) was pleasant, she had such a strong French accent, that you could barely understand anything that she was trying to say. The electric bikes are kind of fun (although mine did breakdown twice), however the guides give very little instructions on how to operate them so you are busy learning on congested city streets. I would avoid this tour... and try something safer!

Dear Mr S.Black, We are so sorry you felt this tour was dangerous and you did not manage to see the beauty of the scenery. Unfortunately, Marseille is a big city with very few bike lanes and I agree it’s such a pity ! We have to deal with the traffic and I promise we try to use as many back streets as we can. Security is our top priority and we do ask our guides to be very careful about it and they were two of them on your tour ! I apologize for our guide’s strong french accent but I was the one who interviewed her in english and I don’t think you are fair saying you could barely understand her. Additionally we would have appreciated that you had written to us directly firstly about these concerns after your tour, as we would have seen fit to make amends for your discontent with a partial refund for your tour costs. We will rest in the fact that most of our customers do communicate directly with us, and leave our tours more than satisfied with their experience in touring with us, as most of our five star reviews indicate. Kindest regards, Hélène SZABO DARLEY E-Bike Tours Marseille

The pros -the e-bikes are easy to use, and make cycling up the steep hill to Notre Dame much easier. The coastline is beautiful and cycling by the old port is nice

The cons -the guide Marc was helpful and polite but gave us very little information about the sights we visited (in fact did not even know the names ) and we did not visit half the sights mentioned on the website (such as the Abbay St. Victor and the Kennedy Corniche) No explanations/apologies for why we did not visit. It was more or less a cycling by the seaside trip with little or no sightseeing except for Notre Dame. Even there the info given was cursory at best.

For the price we paid (€42 for 3 hours) this tour did not meet expectations. We've done better bike tours in Rome/Barcelona

Dear Beverly, Thank you for your honest review about your tour experience. Feedback is very important for us, and we apologize that the tour did not live up to your expectations. I do think you should have chosen a private tour as you were not very confortable riding a bike, you were very slow and your guide Marc and the other people sharing your tour had to stop all the time to wait for you. The result is your tour lasted more than 3 hours and a half and there was no time for you to stop and visit the abbaye St Victor. You did ride on the corniche Kennedy but there is nothing special to say about it. If you were interested in history, you should have chosen the 4 hours tour that goes in the old part of Marseille as well as the sea side. The funny thing is today, I had a phone call from the other people sharing your tour saying how much fun they had and how they enjoyed their tour so I guess it depends of your expectations. Marc is a new guide but already has a few excellent reviews on Trip advisor so we think it's a bit unfair to juge his knowledge on one statue, he did not know the name. Anyway, if you ever come back to Marseille, make sure to contact us so we can offer you a more historical tour. Sincerely, Hélène Szabo Darley Co owner of Ebiketours Marseille

We are seasoned E-Bike Riders and this route was a challenge for us. The route is on busy streets streets with steep inclines, narrow pedestrians walkways (strollers & wheelchairs) with outdoor cafes and tight narrow turns.

Our guide was friendly and professional, but he did not gauge the experience of the group before we started off. There was only a VERY brief overview of the bikes operations, he did not have people test ride on the street to get comfortable shifting the gears or explain to use the bike bell when approaching or passing a pedestrian, or give an overview our route or what to do if we got separated. (Yes, he did lose a couple at the intersection, after stopping 5 blocks away he had to go back and look for them.) Several people in our group were new to e-bikes. We felt VERY sorry to the few that struggled to get up the hill to the church as the dodged between the competing cars and tour buses also going up the hill.

Pros
Guide was an experience rider
Friendly and answered questions

Cons
Did not offer bottle watered for the long ride or point out toilet break opportunities
Did not monitor the group to ensure everyone made it safe through busy intersections, which resulted in people getting left behind and making the wrong turn at the next street.
E-Bike group of 12 shouldn't attempt to ride a route through a narrow pedestrian walkway that includes outdoor cafes with waiters stepping out or doorway with trays of food.

Although we had a few close pedestrian encounters, we finished the ride without any issues, we felt extremely challenged to focus and adjust with the fast route changes.

Can't recommend this tour and route for first time e-biker riders or young teens.

Hello Bottles of water are not included In the tour and you can ask whenever you want during the tour to get a wc stop. And yes, we clearly advise people before booking they must be at ease on roads with cars. Some days are really busy on traffic, especially when 4 or 5 cruise ships are docked at port. If you felt unsafe, we apologize, but this can be the result of exceptional traffic conditions that happens 2 or 3 times in the year and cannot reflects how good most or the time are our tours.

We were a family of 4 adults and met our guide Paul at the front of La Cree theatre. He was early, friendly, very informative and a lot of fun. The bikes were excellent and well maintained. He took us to some incredible parts of the city and certainly understand why you need electric bikes - very hilly but the views were incredible. Paul was excellent.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our e-bike tour of Marseille with Julien! He picked us up at the ship and transported us to the bikes stored within the port area. With just the two of us, it was basically a private tour! After a quick test drive of our bikes, we were on our way. Bike lanes exist as you exit the port but not within the city. Im sure it helped riding in the city during February - off-season - but whereever we were, Julien made sure we were comfortable and safe. The e-bike definitely makes it easier to get to the many stops on the tour and Julien was more than accommodating while he patiently waited for us to take pictures and explore. We liked that we had the option to return the bikes in the city so we could spend more time on our own before returning to the ship later in the afternoon. Julien helped to orient us with the area to assist in that, too. Overall, this is an excellent way to experience Marseille!

So we started out a little bit rocky......the usual transport to the bike location from the ship was not available so the owner arranged to have us picked up by cab. We ended up at their second location who were not ready for us. All was well though......our bikes were delivered to us promptly and personally at this location and so began the tour. Julien was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, informative and entertaining. The bikes were easy for us to ride (we are all in our 60’s). We saw some great sites. Fantastic way to view city highlights.
