I need to read reviews, as I did not realize it was not open to the public and had nothing to do with the onetime rulers of Egypt! Great views, however.

The Palais is closed to the public, but the view all around is spectacular. This is the best viewing spot to see the Vieux Port. It is wonderful and you can see Ft Jean and the Mediterranean Sea.

This is a nice place to go for the spectacular views and also a walk in a pretty park, especially ifyou have children as there are little ice cream kiosks etc. The palais itself while imposing is a disappointment - it is not open to the public and used as a conference centre. Given its prime position and central location... More

Vehicles can only reach the bottom of the hill. The rest is up to you. If you have a disability, this will not work well. If you can climb the hill, the views are stunning. Go at daybreak and bring a camera.

this was the 2nd place i visited in Marseille. it takes approx 10-15 mins from basilique Notre Dame by taxi. it's a beautiful park! you can sit, relax and enjoy the stunning view of the port and the old building (church or castle) around. there's a Napoleon big statue nearby which is also good to see :) worth to visit... We took Segways to the grounds, but did not go inside The grounds are beautiful and offer incredible views of Marseilles and the port. The palace was built for Napolean's wife who went once, did not like and never returned. Gorgeous building with great views.

The "Petit Train" that goes from the east side of the old port up along the corniche to Notre Dame de la Garde is well worth it. Then a walk to the part of the corniche that has your favorite view.

It is the best place for ending a day-exploration of the cente of Marseille. It is a pieceful small park with many places to relax and wonderful view of the old harbour and the city centre. Extra bonus: enjoy the sunset from the other side of the park.
