We love the old city of Vence which we have visited many times and never tire of returning. It is not overly commercially exploitative and has some good restaurants. In a wonderful location in the Alpes Maritime yet only 30 minutes from the centre of Nice and even less to the beach at Cagnes it feels completely self contained; a... More

......it's worth it. A lovely start or end to an evening in Vence is a walk around the old town. Lovely places to eat, a charming market square and an English Library (open Tues, Fri, Sat mornings)

Like St Paul, Vence is a medieval town with a walled perimeter. It is not as large - and in my opinion - not quite as charming. However, it does not cater quite so much to tourists, which is a “plus” in my book. Even though it lacks some of St Paul’s charm, that does not imply that it is... More

What a beautiful medieval town with such charm and character, you can feel transported to another era. People were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when trying to use my limited French language skills. There were so many restaurants and cafes to choose from, wonderful shops and beautifully presented dwellings within the walls of this village. The church was full of... More

Nice mix of shops offering clothing, art and textiles as well as a food market street and a range of restaurants. Parking available in several parking garages just outside of the medieval portion of the city. Busy, but not as jammed with tourists and overtly commercialized as St. Paul de Vence. Third visit and will return again.

We stayed here for three nights and found Vence to be a perfect staging point for touring the Cote d'Azur. The walled village provides a great venue for wandering and admiring the quaint shops and buildings. One gets the feeling that this is a normal, functioning gem of a town, though, so it lacks the total charm of to top... More

Walking about the narrow cobblestone streets with beautifully preserved houses on either side gives you a sense of what life was like a millennium ago. There are lots of shops, restaurants and cafes.

The historic centre of Vence is picture perfect. We walked through the centre, around the edges and back and forth and then returned at night to do it all again! Everything is so pretty.

A little gem that adds a further dimension to the journey to see the Cahpel of Rosaire designed by Matisse.

We stayed here and used it as our base for exploring the Cote d'Azur and we absolutely loved it. I would go back in a heartbeat. The old medieval village has such a sense of history and so much character while at the same time feeling like a real place, where children have fun playing with their friends in the... More
