The Grimaud Castle ruins on a hill overlooking St.Tropez in the distance makes for an excellent vantage point from which to take in panoramic views of the area. The adjacent village of Grimaud is quaint and neat as a pin. Behind the ruins themselves is the picturesque Cemetery containing interesting above-ground Mausoleums; it's focal point being the remains of a... More

A Castle well worth visiting. The views from the castle of St.Tropez Bay and surrounding areas are brilliant. The old town of Grimaud is very pretty with typical narrow streets and painted houses.

The 'hike' up to the Castle is worth it....the village streets are the real star.... A picturesque walk indeed.

What a beautiful village! This time, we followed the 'tourist route' rather than just wandering around aimlessly. Can only agree with other reviewers about the panoramic view. A walk up to the castle is an absolute MUST, armed with camera of course! I just love this part of the world.

Grimaud Castle was founded by Count Grimaldi - yes, the forefather of those living in Monaco. Nice old town on a mountain near the bay of St. Tropez. Great ruins, great view over the bay and the mountains of the Provence.

Grimaud village is a lovely place to walk around. Lots of old buildings, church and castle remains to photograph. White stoned buildings with colourful shutters and trailing flowers, sleepy cats and narrow cobbled roads, almost like you have gone back in time. Turned a corner and came across a group playing boules before heading into the peacefulness of the 13th... More

It is very nice to walk too. The view over the bay and Saint-Tropez is beautiful. Don't forget your camera !! The place is full of history and the city has done a very nice renovation. They do organized concerts too. Check on line before.

For those on a Mediterranean cruise who have already experienced the beauty of St. Tropez (and wish to avoid the lure of shopping) and who are looking for a nearby day excursion, the medieval village of Grimaud beckons! Taxis are difficult to find, leaving the bus as the most viable option; the direct bus to the village is the best... More

This castle is well worth the short walk up through the exceptionally pretty village of Grimaud for the fabulous views from the top.
