This baroque cathedral has been recently renovated and all the fat cherubs have clean faces. This operatic , wedding cake view of heaven is very sad when grubby and just about convincing with the shine back on.

We happened upon this place whilst wandering around the old town. Although plain from the outside, the inside is so different. There are three organs and ten ornate chapels, until the end of the 17th century each of the chapels was connected to a different guild which had the responsibility and expense of maintaining them. The high altar is surmounted... More

We love churches (in moderation) and there was something different about this Cathedral - it was sort of homely and pretty, and very welcoming. It's easy to find and worth a look; a very relaxing place to sit and contemplate for a while and there's lots to look at.

Situated in the heart of the old town, adjacent to lively place Rossetti, this 17th century cathedral is dedicated to the early christian martyr St Reparate, who is also the patron saint of the city. The outside is rather plain, but inside it is crowned by a striking dome of green and gold tiles, and has numerous baroque side chapels.Entrance is free and after your visit... Must stop by when visiting the old town. You will cross it a number of times if you spend a fair amount of time in the old town. Take ten minutes and take a walk around the cathedral.

It was spectacular and will be even better when done. The music playing near the altar added a special touch

Nicely decorated inside, and in the old town so that should be part of your old town city trip (and depending how big you're on religious art, you can spend 5 min or 2 hours). Unfortunately in August there were renovation works so it was quite noisy, but I had visited it before without these, and it was way more... More

This is a must, in spite of the renovations it is still worth going to. The artwork alone is worth the visit. From the outer it looks unremarkable but once you enter you will be amazed by the beauty of this magnificent church.

Like the Russian Church, the Cathedral was also under extensive repair at the time of our visit, so it is not possible for the visitor to see the full splendour of the interior.
