I have visited Nice several times in recent years but only recently took the time to locate the Chagall Museum which is about a twenty minute walk from the Nice harbor area. Buses do go near the museum and it is in a quiet residential neigbhorhood. Check your maps. The museum was designed by and built specifically for Chagall to... More

Largest - in 2 ways - display of Chagall we've seen. Both as to the number of his works of art as well as the size of the paintings...in a wonderful well-presented setting. Movies in English/with subtitles on Chagall background and reasonably priced museum shop. Pictures, without flash, permitted. Found street parking nearby, unusual for Nice.

The light and colour of the area around Nice have inspired countless world famous artists. The painters – Ingres, Delacroix, Soutine, Monet, Renoir, Picasso, Matisse, Toulouse lautrec, Chagall, Bonnard, Degas, and the writters Balzac, Flaubert, Montaigne, Verlaine, Tolstoy, Colette, Valery …all spent time in Nice, or even took up permanent residence there. The mere presence of these artists has favoured... More

This was a beautiful space in which to view and learn about the art. With admission, we were given a audio guide which was helpful in order to understand and appreciate the paintings.

This museum was built around the collection of paintings that Chagall donated to the French government in the 1970s. They were painted in the 1960s and in them you can find reference... More
