What makes this sight so interesting is that fact that Chagall himself was involved in the design and display of the paintings. They are reall well displayed in a very attractive building. The paintings are very intricate with amazing detail. Do not miss the audio guide as it provides great insight into the paintings and their symbolism.

For anyone interested in art this museum is a must if you are visiting Nice. The building constructed during Chagall's lifetime was built specially to house a large donation of paintings of the artist. It and the garden are gorgeous, but the collection is very impressive. Not to be missed is an excellent film about Chagall (English version shown at... More

Missed Matisse church in Vence, but museum , which even a long walk uphill was worth the climb in Nice. Went to see Orthodox Church. Breathtaking.

The Chagall Museum is absolutely fabulous. To my surprise, one of the delights of the experience was the movie of Chagall's life (given at 1,00 p.m. in English). I really enjoyed hearing Chagall humbly discuss his art and was fascinated by the old photographs. Further the museum has everything from stain glass to mosaics to all the religious art displayed... Worth a visit! Reserve time to watch the movie about Chagall, worth the time in order to understand the paintings a bit better. Relatively small exhibition but gives a good picture of the painter.

My wife is an artist and so this was certainly a highlight of our trip. I enjoyed the large collection and the opportunity to learn more about this important and fascinating artist, who contributed so much. The 8 euro price represents excellent value. It is an easy walk from Place Massena.

One of the reasons we planned our trip to Nice, was to visit this museum. Their website said that after extended restoration it would reopen on January 2. When we got there, a few days later, the gate was closed and there was a sign on it that repeated the information on the website... they didn't even bother to change... More

A fitting tribute to one of the 20th century's greatest artists. Most of the works are in series, telling joined stories. The audio guide is a must, giving a much greater understanding to the symbols used by the artist.

We new young Chagall’s art but not so much his later years work. You need to learn a little about his art and biography before going to the museum. They show a short move in English. Watch the film to understand Chagall.
