Chagall is one of my favorites

Wonderful museum, beautiful collection, definitely worth the time when you're are in Nice. I happen to love the artist but I think all would enjoy.

The key to this art museum for me was the film which I watched in French but is available in English, it was a fascinating insight into the art world and Chagall himself. The museum itself is well laid out and there are plenty of impressive works on display. Like the Dali museum in Figueres there is something special about... More

The Marc Chagall-museet has a very nice collection of Chagall artworks and was specially built to host the collection of his biblical paintings. The permanent collection is the biggest Chagall collection on display in the world. If you have the time you can walk up to the museum, if it´s hot outside I would suggest the bus.

We go to a lot of museums and art galleries, but I don't really know much about art. Thus, I hate to say bad things about any artist. I just don't really get where they are coming from and whether or not their work really holds up. This is especially true for Chagall in my book. But if you really... More

We decided to walk here from old Nice, which was a nice walk. The museum itself was interesting and allowed us to understand more about Marc Chagall. The audio guide is a must and explained each painting well. Afterwards we had a cup of tea in the garden, the waiters were very busy but the general atmosphere was relaxing.

This museum, designed with the participation of the artist, makes it clear why he is considered one of the greats of the 20th century. The displayed collection of Chagall's biblical themed works is extremely powerful in a way that I had never anticipated. In addition to seeing the art, give yourself time to see movie about the artist. It will... More

Likes: beautiful entrance with garden and outdoor café, reasonable rates (8€, EU kids/students free), audioguides included in ticket and tailored to kids too, my five year old enjoyed it and listened raptly while looking at the paintings. Film worth staying for, comfortable modern auditorium, in english and french. Bus stop nearby (15) to Nice centre, 1€ ticket one way. Dislikes:... More

One of the best museums in the world. You can explore the life and the works of the genius artist. Exposition is changing and always presents different types of the works, such as paintings, sculptures, mosaics, tapestries and others.

We walked all the way from centre of town to the museum only to find it is closed on Tuesday's. There were several other people we met who had either driven, walked or come by bus and were surprised the place was closed. Very disappointed.

The Chagall Museum in Nice is dedicated mainly to some of Chagall's Biblical work -- which sounds a little off-putting, but is not at all. There are many big paintings based on stories from the Old Testament, mixed with the well-known motifs that Chagall used again and again (roosters, goats, the Crucifixion, the Russian shtetl where the artist was born),...
